Surtling Cores are glowing red stones that unlock your entire crafting economy. Without them you cannot smelt metal or build portals, so they are an early priority.
Where to Find Them
The two reliable sources are Burial Chambers in the Black Forest (often in stacks on pedestals) and killing Surtlings at fire geysers in the Swamp.
What They Build
- Smelter and Charcoal Kiln for processing copper, tin, and iron
- Portals for fast travel, which need 2 cores each
Grab at least 10 cores from your first couple of Burial Chambers. That covers a smelter, a kiln, and your first portal pair.
