Portals link in named pairs: give two portals the same tag and stepping through one teleports you to the other, the backbone of fast travel in valheim. Standard wooden portals will not carry metal ores or ingots, which forces you to haul metals home by boat or cart. The Ashlands added a Stone Portal that can transport ores, metals, and even Dragon Eggs, finally easing the long-standing metal-transport headache.
