The Staff of Protection casts a protective bubble around you that absorbs incoming hits before it pops, a Blood magic spell from the Mistlands Galdr Table. It is a defensive staff rather than a damage one, buying you time in the worst fights in valheim. It is the survivability backbone of a mage loadout: pop the ward, then cast the Staff of Embers or Staff of Frost safely from inside it.
