Eikthyr is the first of the five Forsaken. It is a giant antlered stag that guards the Meadows, and it is the gate between scavenging and actually mining. Beat it and you get the Hard Antler you need to craft the Antler Pickaxe, which is your first way into copper.
Where to Summon Eikthyr
Eikthyr's altar is a ring of stones with a glowing red sacrificial bowl, marked on your map with a stag-skull icon once you find a Vegvisir or stumble onto it. Most worlds put it close to your spawn.
To summon it you need 2 Deer Trophies. Deer drop them at a low rate, so plan on hunting a few before you get the pair.
Bring a friend if you can. Eikthyr is not hard, but the fight is much faster with two people splitting its attention.
How to Beat Eikthyr
Eikthyr has three attacks: a melee antler swipe, a lightning bolt AoE, and a stomp that throws a ring of lightning. All three telegraph clearly.
- Clear the area around the altar so you have room to circle.
- Drop the 2 Deer Trophies on the bowl to start the fight.
- Strafe around it and hit it with a Flint Spear or Crude Bow between attacks.
- Step out of the stomp ring the moment it rears back.
Stone walls or a few raised earth mounds make great cover if you want to cheese the lightning.
Drops and Reward
Eikthyr always drops Hard Antler (used for the Antler Pickaxe) and the Eikthyr Trophy. Mount the trophy on the wooden stake at any sacrificial altar to unlock its Forsaken power.
The Eikthyr power cuts stamina drain from running and jumping by 40% for a short time. Pop it before a long trek and you will sprint a lot further. It is the most-used early power in the game for a reason.
