Iron is the backbone of the mid game, and unlike copper it is not mined from deposits. You dig Scrap Iron out of Muddy Scrap Piles inside the Sunken Crypts, the Swamp dungeons you open with the Swamp Key from The Elder.
Using It
Smelt Scrap Iron into Iron bars. Iron builds the Iron Mace for Bonemass, iron armor, the Iron Pickaxe, stronger tools, and reinforced building pieces.
Iron cannot be teleported through portals. Plan a cart or boat trip to move it home.
