Valheim Console Commands

The Valheim console gives server admins powerful tools for managing players, spawning items, and debugging issues. Press F5 in-game to open the console.

Setting Up Admins

Before using admin commands, you must add yourself to the admin list:

1. Open the File Manager in your HostedGG dashboard
2. Open adminlist.txt in the root directory
3. Add your Steam64 ID (one per line)
4. Save the file and restart the server

Find your Steam64 ID at steamid.io.

Enabling Devcommands

After being added as an admin, type this in the console:

devcommands

You'll see a message confirming devcommands are enabled. This unlocks the full set of admin tools.

spawn [prefabName] [amount] [level]

Best Practices for Admins

1. Don't use devcommands in normal play — It disables achievements and can corrupt progression
2. Save before experimenting — Run save before testing commands
3. Use kick before ban — Give players a warning first
4. Keep backups — Before using spawn or removedrops, back up your world
5. Log admin actions — Keep notes of bans and kicks for your community
