"Cook food to level this skill."
The first food you ever hold is the vegetable soup Doric hands you for finishing the tutorial. Everything after that you make, from Farming crops and Fishing catches.
Cooking matters most in the back half of the map, where the problem stops being damage and starts being attrition: the Kalphite Queen at 5,500 health per phase is a sustain fight, and Fuzan at 16,000 is a long one. Going into either short on food is how a well-geared run still fails.
The cheat code is Infernal Rod at 30 Fishing, which cooks fish on the catch and keeps the Cooking experience flowing without a single trip to a fire.
