Rune & Dragon Gear

The top two tiers arrived with 1.0, alongside the ores and crafted materials that sit behind them.

Rune (power 8) is the ceiling for anything you can make yourself: helmets, body armour and the weapon line including the Rune Greataxe, which is still the hardest-hitting weapon in the game at 196 to 343 damage.

Dragon (power 9) is melee-only and the top of the armour ladder. The Dragon Scimitar that goes with it is not crafted: it comes from the Queenslayer's Reward Pack, so it drops from Kuldra after the run that needed it is already over.

Black dragonhide (power 8) is the best ranged armour in the game and the end of the dragonhide line that runs green at power 5, blue at 6, red at 7.

Ancestral robes and wand are new in 1.0 and are a different thing from the rest of the list: a magic weapon type Jagex pitched as "a more mobile, fast-paced way to deal more damage." Given that magic armour still stops at power 5, the Ancestral set is the closest thing a caster has to an endgame answer.

1.0 also shipped nine new enemy types to fight in it, including Goblin Thugs, Garou Exiles and Black Dragons.

What comes next is already mapped. Luminance in December 2026 adds elven weapons and armour alongside the Lyre and Songstones. The Blood Crystal Saga runs through 2027 in two chapters, Song of Rebellion and Crown of Night, and Jagex has named the Dark Bow and the Ivandis Flail as legendary weapons arriving with the second.
