Storage is progression in disguise. The faster you can find materials, the faster you can repair, craft, and sail.
Simple Storage Plan
Use separate storage groups for raw materials, metals, food, ship supplies, weapons, and valuables. Put labels or visual spacing between groups if the build system allows it.
Co-op Rule
Create one dump chest only for the end of a trip, then sort it before the next voyage. Permanent dump chests become permanent confusion.
