The Short Version
Windrose rewards doing things in the right order. Early on, ship repair, base building, and food buffs are top priority, copper and wood are the resources that gate progression, and parry is the single highest-impact combat skill. The full interactive Windrose tier list ranks every system S to D across four boards.
If you are brand new, read the Windrose beginner guide first, then use this to decide where your time goes.
Progression Priority
The fastest start is disciplined, not frantic. The systems that earn their place at the top are the ones that prevent a session from resetting:
A working ship is your main road, a coastal base is your anchor, and food buffs make everything less punishing. Everything else builds on those three.
Threats, Ranked by Danger
Knowing what to avoid is as valuable as knowing what to farm. Treat bosses and enemy ships in ship combat as fights you take on your terms, with buffs, healing, and an escape plan ready. Enemy pirates and zombies punish bad pulls on land, while hostile animals are manageable once you read their tells.
Best Combat Options
Parry sits at the top because mastering it trivializes most land melee, and cannons are your primary answer to enemy ships. Melee weapons form the reliable backbone of land fights, while pistols and firearms deliver strong burst at range but work best as a supporting tool.
Resources That Gate Progression
Copper unlocks fast travel and key mid-game crafting, so finding nodes is a priority. Wood is the backbone of repairs and building, stone and food see constant demand, and plant fiber is cheap but always consumed.
