The Nibbler is a small scrape-feeding omnivore that lives in family groups, which is exactly what makes it dangerous early. One Nibbler is a nuisance; a group of them snapping at your limbs while you are gathering your first resources can end a fresh run. They will bite fish, sponges, kelp, and you.
How to Handle It
Watch for the swarm before you commit to harvesting in the open. A balance pass in Hotfix 3 reduced how far Nibblers perceive you and made them circle longer before striking, which gives you a real window to back off or reach cover.
