Zenless Zone Zero Reroll Guide: Should You Even Bother in 2026?

The honest Zenless Zone Zero reroll guide: why rerolling in ZZZ is slower and less worthwhile than in most gacha games, what to do instead with the Standard Channel selector and free tapes, and how to give a new account the best possible start.

Most gacha reroll guides open with "here is the fastest way to restart until you get the character you want." This one opens with a warning: in Zenless Zone Zero, rerolling is one of the least rewarding things a new player can spend their time on. Before you sink an afternoon into it, understand why, and what you should do instead.

Why rerolling in ZZZ is a bad deal

Three things make ZZZ reroll far more painful than the average gacha:

  • There are no guest accounts. HoYoverse retired throwaway/guest logins, so every reroll attempt means creating a brand-new account from a fresh email. There is no "clear data and restart" button.
  • The run to your first pulls is long. Getting through the opening, into the Inter-Knot progression, and to the point where you have enough tapes to meaningfully pull takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes per attempt. Reroll ten times and that is most of a day for a chance at one Agent.
  • Your first pulls are on the Standard Channel, not a limited banner. New accounts do not get a discounted shot at the current limited Agent the way some games' newbie banners let you. You are rerolling for a standard-pool S-Rank, and the standard pool is a fixed, permanent set you will eventually own anyway.

Put together: enormous time cost, and the prize is a character you were going to get for free with patience. That is the opposite of a good reroll.

What ZZZ gives you instead

The game is built so that a single account gets a strong start without rerolling:

  • A discount on your first pulls. Your first several ten-pulls on the Standard Channel are discounted, so your early currency stretches much further than normal.
  • A guaranteed S-Rank early. You are guaranteed an S-Rank Agent within your first 50 pulls on the Standard Channel, so a new account is not left hanging on bad luck.
  • The Standard Channel selector. This is the key feature that kills the case for rerolling. When you hit the guarantee, you get to choose your standard S-Rank Agent from the pool. There is no random outcome to reroll for; you simply pick the best one. (More on the pick below.)
  • Free Agents from progression. Story rewards and starter events hand you a serviceable early roster, so you are never relying on a single lucky pull to have a functional team.

Because you select your first S-Rank rather than gamble for it, the entire premise of rerolling collapses. There is nothing to reroll toward.

What to do instead of rerolling

For 95% of new players, the correct play is:

  1. Make one account and keep it. If you already play Genshin or Honkai: Star Rail, note that you generally cannot share that account with ZZZ, so this will be its own login. Pick the email and server you want to live on long-term.
  2. Start during an event or patch if you can. Accounts created during an active event period tend to be showered with extra tapes and rewards, giving your first banner far more pulls to work with.
  3. Play to the guarantee, then use the selector wisely (next section).
  4. Do not dump Polychrome into the Standard Channel. Save your premium currency for limited Agents. Convert and spend toward the limited banner you actually want rather than feeding the standard pool, which you will complete over time regardless. See the Polychrome and pull economy guide for the full breakdown.

Who to pick from the Standard selector

Your selector S-Rank should be a durable, team-defining Agent that stays relevant across patches rather than a flashy pick that ages out. Favor:

  • A strong main DPS you can build a team around for the long haul, or
  • A universal support/stun Agent that slots into almost any team and never falls out of the meta.

Because the standard pool and the meta both move over time, check the current recommendation on the live who to pull guide and the ZZZ tier list before you lock your choice. The selector is a one-time decision, so it is worth two minutes of reading.

The rare case where rerolling makes sense

Rerolling is only defensible if all of these are true for you:

  • You are starting during a window that grants an unusually large pile of free pulls, and
  • You specifically want a particular limited Agent on the current banner and are willing to gamble for it, and
  • Your time is genuinely worth less to you than the pulls, given the 30-to-40-minute-per-attempt cost.

Even then, the expected value is poor compared to just playing one account and pulling normally. If you are not in that exact situation, skip it.

Give your one account the best start

Once you have committed to a single account, front-load the things that compound:

  • Clear the early story and Commissions to bank tapes and unlock systems. The Inter-Knot progression guide maps the order.
  • Redeem active codes immediately for free Polychrome and materials from the ZZZ codes page.
  • Build a coherent first team rather than leveling everyone. The beginner teams guide shows which early units actually work together, and the combat mastery guide explains the assist-and-stun loop that carries early fights.
  • Do not over-invest gear early. Save your best Drive Discs and W-Engines for the units you have decided to keep.

Quick answers

Is rerolling worth it in Zenless Zone Zero? For almost everyone, no. There are no guest accounts, each attempt takes 30 to 40 minutes, and your first guaranteed S-Rank is a selector you choose rather than a random pull, so there is nothing to reroll for.

How do I get a good first character in ZZZ? Play to the Standard Channel guarantee (within 50 pulls) and pick a long-term DPS or universal support from the selector. Your early ten-pulls are discounted, which stretches your currency.

Should I spend Polychrome on the Standard Channel? No. Save premium currency for limited Agents; the standard pool fills in over time on its own.

Rerolling is a trap the game politely designed around. Make one account, use the selector, and pour your energy into building it. Start from the Zenless Zone Zero wiki hub, and if you are still deciding whether ZZZ is for you, read the full review.
