How Teams Work in Zenless Zone Zero

Every Zenless Zone Zero team is three Agents, and almost every strong team follows one simple shape:

Intel
Stun + DPS + Support.

You Stun an enemy to open a damage window, your DPS dumps damage during it, and your Support buffs the whole thing. Get that triangle right and you can clear most content, even with free Agents. The ZZZ tier list ranks every Agent, but understanding the roles matters more than owning the rarest units.

The Three Roles

  • Stunners build an enemy's Daze bar until it breaks, opening a big damage window. Qingyi is a premium option; Anby Demara is the free one that carries every new player.
  • Attack / DPS deal the damage during the stun. Carries like Zhu Yuan and Ellen Joe want a clean stun window to unload into.
  • Supports buff damage, gather enemies, or shred resistance. Nicole Demara is a superb budget Support; Astra Yao is a near-universal premium one.

The Two Main Playstyles

ZZZ damage broadly splits into two routes:

  1. Stun teams (burst): Stun the enemy, then nuke with a single big carry. The most beginner-friendly route. Think Zhu Yuan + Qingyi + Nicole.
  2. Anomaly / Disorder teams: Stack two Anomaly carries of different Elements to trigger Disorder, a large bonus burst. This is the dominant endgame style, led by units like Hoshimi Miyabi and Tsukishiro Yanagi.

Best Starter Teams

You do not need limited Agents to clear early and mid content. Strong, accessible comps:

Ether Burst (very beginner-friendly)

Zhu Yuan + Qingyi + Nicole Demara. Nicole groups enemies and shreds Ether resistance, Qingyi stuns, and Zhu Yuan deletes everything in the window. One of the cleanest teams in the game.

Ice Hypercarry

Ellen Joe + Soukaku + a Stunner. Soukaku is a free-friendly Ice Support whose attack buff and Ice application make Ellen hit hard. Easy to pilot.

Free-to-Play Backbone

Any carry + Anby Demara + Nicole Demara. Anby and Nicole are both A-rank, easy to get, and enable almost any DPS, so this is the template you fall back on while building a roster.

Quick Tips

  • Pull one Support and one Stunner you like early. They work across many carries, so they are better long-term value than a second DPS.
  • Match your Support's Element to your carry where possible (Ice support for an Ice DPS).
  • Do not sleep on free rewards: grab the latest ZZZ redeem codes for Polychrome to fund your pulls.

Where to Go Next

Once you understand the Stun-DPS-Support core, the rest is roster building. Check the ZZZ tier list to prioritize who to pull and invest in, keep an eye on the codes page for free Polychrome, and browse the Zenless Zone Zero wiki for individual Agent builds.
