Zenless Zone Zero Inter-Knot Level Roadmap: What to Prioritize From Rank 1 to 60

Your Inter-Knot Level is the ceiling on everything in Zenless Zone Zero: your Agents' level cap, your energy, and what content is even open. Here is what each level bracket unlocks, the four Rank-Up walls that stop you cold at 20, 30, 40, and 50, and what to pour your resources into at every stage so nothing gets wasted.

Zenless Zone Zero Inter-Knot Level Roadmap: What to Prioritize From Rank 1 to 60
Table of Contents

Every account in Zenless Zone Zero has one number quietly deciding what it can do, and it is not any Agent's level. It is your Inter-Knot Level. It caps how high your Agents, W-Engines, and Bangboos can go, it sets your energy ceiling, and it gates whole modes behind it. Push it too slow and your roster hits a wall it cannot climb. Push it without a plan and you waste materials on the way up.

So think of Inter-Knot Level as the frame, and everything else as what you hang on it. Here is the roadmap.

What Inter-Knot Level actually controls

You raise your Inter-Knot Level by earning Inter-Knot Credit, which pours in from Commissions, main story quests, exploration, and most activities you do anyway. As that number climbs, three things move with it:

  • Your Agent, W-Engine, and Bangboo level caps. These rise in steps tied to your Inter-Knot Level, all the way to Agent level 60 near the top. You cannot out-level your account, so an under-leveled Inter-Knot Level is an invisible ceiling on your whole team.
  • Your energy (Battery Charge) and daily throughput. More account level means more stamina headroom to farm.
  • Access to content. Endgame modes, higher difficulties, and systems unlock as you rank up.

The catch, and it is the single most important mechanic here, is that your level does not just flow upward freely. It hits walls.

The four Rank-Up walls

At Inter-Knot Level 20, 30, 40, and 50, your progress stops until you clear a Rank-Up Mission. Any Inter-Knot Credit you earn while capped is not lost: it banks and applies the instant you finish the mission. But your level, and therefore your Agent level caps, will not budge until you sit down and clear the trial.

The first one matters most. Hitting Inter-Knot Level 20 unlocks your first Rank-Up Trial, and completing it lifts your Agent, W-Engine, and Bangboo cap from 20 to 30. Every ten levels after that, starting at 20, your Inter-Knot Reputation Rank also increases, climbing toward the top rank of Legendary Proxy and handing out rewards along the way.

The lesson: the day you hit a Rank-Up wall, clear the mission immediately. Leaving it undone freezes your entire account's power ceiling while you keep pouring credit into a level that will not rise.

Where to spend at each stage

Your resources are always scarcer than your ambitions, so match your investment to your bracket instead of building everything at once.

Rank 1 to 20 (the on-ramp). Follow the main story hard: it is the fastest Inter-Knot Credit in the game and it unlocks systems as you go. Level exactly one team of three Agents plus their Bangboo, not your whole box. Do not touch Skill levels much yet; raw Agent levels and the story are your return on investment. Grab every redeem code for early materials.

Rank 20 to 40 (the build phase). Clear the Rank-Up Missions on sight. Now your carries can actually breathe, so start investing in Skills and Cores for your main DPS, and begin real Drive Disc farming. This is where gear starts to matter more than levels, so lean on the Drive Discs and W-Engines guide and the material priority guide so you are not scattering Dennies and EXP across the bench.

Rank 40 to 60 (the endgame). Your level cap opens the door to the modes that actually test a build: Shiyu Defense, Deadly Assault, and deeper Hollow Zero runs. By now a second team is worth building for the dual-team endgame, and your farming shifts almost entirely to Drive Disc substats, the black hole that never fills.

The mistakes that slow accounts down

  • Sitting on a Rank-Up wall. The most common one. Clear the mission the day you hit the cap, or your Agents are stuck below their real ceiling for no reason.
  • Leveling your whole roster. Materials do not stretch that far. One finished team beats six half-built Agents at every stage of the game.
  • Chasing Skills too early. Under Inter-Knot Level 20, Skill materials are better saved. Raw levels and story progress carry you far more efficiently until your caps open up.
  • Letting energy overflow. Battery Charge you do not spend is farming you did not do. Empty it once a day, especially while you are climbing.

Keep your Inter-Knot Level moving through the story, clear every Rank-Up wall the moment it appears, and aim your materials at one team per bracket, and progression stops being a grind and starts feeling like a straight line. Not sure who to build first, or where your pulls should go?
