Hollow Knight: Silksong Wiki
69 pagesHollow Knight: Silksong is Team Cherry's metroidvania sequel, and it puts you in control of Hornet, the needle-wielding princess-protector from the first game. Captured and carried far from home, she awakens in the strange, vertical kingdom of Pharloom and has to fight her way up from its rotting depths toward the bells of its citadel. This wiki tracks Pharloom's bosses, enemies, Crests, Silk Skills, Tools, quests, and regions so you can plan your climb.
How Silksong Plays
The core is classic Team Cherry: explore, fight, unlock movement, go deeper. Hornet is faster and more aggressive than the Knight, sprinting and leaping through a hand-drawn world while reading each enemy's patterns. The new wrinkle is Silk, a resource you build up by striking foes and spend to heal with a quick Bind or to cast Silk Skills. Combat rewards staying on the offensive, because the same resource that keeps you alive is the one your special attacks burn.
Crests and Builds
Instead of a single charm loadout, Silksong reshapes Hornet's whole moveset through Crests. Equip the Hunter Crest, Reaper Crest, Beast Crest, or another and her attacks, abilities, and Tool slots change with it. Crests are the backbone of build crafting, and pairing the right Crest with the right Tools is how you tune Hornet for aggression, ranged poking, or survivability.
Tools: The New Charms
Tools fill the slots on your active Crest and replace Hollow Knight's charms. They split into Red offensive tools, Blue defensive and utility tools, and Yellow skill tools, covering thrown weapons like Tacks, traps, and buffs. You craft and buy Tools, upgrade them, and swap them at a bench to fit the fight ahead.
Bosses and Enemies
Pharloom is dense with bosses that gate your progress and punish sloppy play, from early hunters to the kingdom's grand sentinels. Our boss pages break down attack patterns and rewards, while enemy pages cover the creatures you meet on the way, what they do, and what they drop.
Quests and the World
Beyond the main climb, Pharloom is full of quests picked up from its NPCs, alongside hidden upgrades like Mask Shards and Silk Hearts that raise your health and Silk. Use the section tabs to jump to bosses, Crests, Tools, or locations, and the left menu to browse the whole game. Every entry has an infobox so you can check a boss's region, a Crest's playstyle, or a Tool's type at a glance.

Hollow Knight: Silksong FAQ
What is Hollow Knight: Silksong?
Hollow Knight: Silksong is the metroidvania sequel from Team Cherry. You play as Hornet, captured and carried to the unfamiliar kingdom of Pharloom, and must climb from its depths to its shining citadel. It keeps Hollow Knight's hand-drawn world, tight combat, and exploration, but builds a faster, more acrobatic moveset and new systems like Silk, Crests, and Tools around its new protagonist.
Is Silksong a sequel to Hollow Knight?
Yes. Silksong is the direct follow-up to 2017's Hollow Knight. It is a standalone game with a new hero, Hornet, and a new kingdom, Pharloom, so you do not need to have finished the first game to play it, though returning players will recognise the studio's style and some lore threads.
How is Hornet different from the Knight?
Hornet is faster and more aggressive than the Knight. She wields a needle and thread, sprints, has a higher and more acrobatic jump, can heal by binding Silk rather than a slow focus, and reshapes her entire moveset by equipping Crests. Silk powers both her healing and her Silk Skills, so combat is about generating and spending Silk aggressively.
What are Crests in Silksong?
Crests are equippable cores that define how Hornet fights. Each Crest, such as the Hunter, Reaper, Beast, Witch, Wanderer, Shaman, and Architect Crests, changes her attack patterns, abilities, and the layout of Tool slots you can fit. Swapping Crests at a bench is how you reshape your build, replacing Hollow Knight's charm-only system.
What are Tools in Silksong?
Tools are equippable gadgets that fill the slots on your active Crest, the rough equivalent of Hollow Knight's charms. They come in Red (offensive), Blue (defensive/utility), and Yellow (skill) types, covering throwing weapons like Tacks, traps, and buffs. You build, buy, and upgrade Tools, then slot them to fit your playstyle.
How many Acts does Silksong have?
Silksong is structured across three Acts that carry Hornet from the lower reaches of Pharloom up toward its citadel and beyond. Each Act opens new regions, bosses, and abilities, and progression is gated by movement upgrades and key items in classic metroidvania fashion.
