Dual Weapon Stances
Five of the six classes carry two weapon sets with separate skills and talents. The Sorcerer is the exception.

The weapon set, not the class, is what decides how a Gyldhunter plays. Five of the six classes carry two sets with their own skills and talents. The Sorcerer is the exception: one staff, with Elemental and Stardust magic in place of a second weapon.
Why It Matters
The two sets a class carries are usually a damage set and a protective one, and they pull in opposite directions. A Withered Knight on a Greatsword wants isolated duels; the same class on Polearm and Shield wants to stand between the enemy and its squad. Talents are set-specific too, so committing early is normal.
The Practical Rule
Pick for squad size. Shields, catalysts and barriers earn their keep in a three-player run where someone else can deal the damage. Solo, the heavy damage set is usually right, because a fight you cannot finish is a fight the other squad joins.
