Combat
Mistfall Hunter uses deliberate, Souls-like third-person combat with stamina, dodges, and weapon-stance swaps.

Combat in Mistfall Hunter is deliberate and reaction-driven, frequently compared to Souls-like action games. Spacing, timing, and reading your opponent matter more than mashing.
Layered on top is the dual weapon stance system, which lets you shift your approach mid-fight against both AI and rival hunters.
One thing worth knowing before you blame yourself for a missed punish: the active hit windows here are genuinely tiny. The first strike of the Sword and Shield is open for 62 milliseconds, a figure Bellring published in DevNote #9, and hits are resolved on the server rather than on your machine. That combination produces the phantom hits and cancelled dodges the community complains about, and hit registration covers why and what you can change in settings.

Hits resolve on the server, not your client. That is why damage goes missing and dodges get rubberbanded, and there is one setting that changes it.
