Limbus Season 8 Put Canto X Behind a Single Chapter of Story, and You Can Start It Tonight

Season 8: PUNCTUM launched 17 September 2026 with Canto X: The Gaze Bearing, the Mirror of Sisyphe, five Haute Couture Identities and four E.G.O. Everything in it, and the access rule that lets a brand new account in.

The thing people get wrong about Canto X is the entry requirement.

You need to have cleared Canto I: The Outcast. That is all. Not Canto IX, not the nine Cantos in between. If you made an account last week and pushed through the opening chapter, the newest story in the game is open to you tonight, and your Identities are temporarily set to Uptie III so you are not walking into it underpowered.

There is one asterisk: anything gated behind Intervallo VII-2 stays locked until you actually clear it. The main road is open. A few side doors are not.

What Season 8 is

Season 8: PUNCTUM, stylised in game as STÚDĬUM PUNCTUM, began on 17 September 2026 and has no announced end date. Project Moon seasons run long, so there is no clock to panic about.

The centrepiece is Canto X: The Gaze Bearing, which shipped in three parts rather than one drop. Part 1 landed on launch day and Part 3 arrived on 2 October, a week earlier than the schedule most outlets had printed. The whole Canto is out, so there is no reason to ration it.

The setting is the Grand Magasin Sisyphe, a mall-like virtual space inside N Corp.'s District 14, and Meursault is the focus Sinner. The supporting cast is the heavyweight end of the roster: Faust, Sinclair, Dante, Jeanne, Carmen, Kromer and the Lady of the Fount.

The Mirror of Sisyphe

The eighth Mirror Dungeon arrives with the season and replaces the previous one as the dungeon you will actually be running.

If you have not touched Mirror Dungeons in a while, the thing to understand is that the shell changes but the economy does not: E.G.O Gift fusion, keyword commitment and Starlight upgrades work the way they always have, and our Mirror Dungeon guide covers that machinery in full. Read it for the mechanics, then run Sisyphe for the rewards.

Five Identities, all Haute Couture

Season 8's Identities share a banner theme, which is unusual and makes the set easier to think about as a group:

IdentitySinner
Le Noir Footwear HallRyōshū
Boutique du RougeIshmael
Alteration ShopRodion
Le Noir Brand ManagerDon Quixote
The Crimson God of Le RougeSinclair

Two of these are the ones the community argued about before release. Le Noir Footwear Hall Ryōshū is a 000 built around Tremor, and Boutique du Rouge Ishmael is a 000 Bleed carry. Both are on our upcoming units index with their verification status, and both now sit on the Season 8 tier list alongside the rest of the roster.

If you are deciding where a limited pull goes, the honest answer is that it depends on which status team you already own rather than which ID is stronger in the abstract. The status and team tier list is the page that actually answers that, because Bleed and Tremor want completely different supporting casts.

Four E.G.O, and they are all on the pass

This is the part that surprises returning players: the season's E.G.O are not gacha pulls. They are Season's Pass rewards sitting at fixed levels.

E.G.OSinnerRarityAbnormalityPass level

Mirror-touchRodionTETHWandering Heart40, paid
HollowFaustWAWHollowed Man80, free track

Two WAW E.G.O in one season is generous, and one of them, Faust's Hollow, is on the free track. If you only do one thing with Season 8, grind the pass to level 80.

The costs and the arithmetic on whether the paid track earns its money are in the Season 8 pass breakdown. If you are unsure what a WAW E.G.O even demands of you in a fight, the E.G.O guide covers resource cost and the Corrosion rule that eats careless teams.

The rest of the season

Two events run inside PUNCTUM: BokGaks Spring Cultivation and Line 3. The season also adds Battle Announcers, a cosmetic layer, with G.M. Sisyphe customer announcements plus Jeanne and Meursault voice sets available through the pass.

If you are coming back after a season away

Do it in this order:

  1. Clear Canto I if some miracle means you have not. Everything else unlocks behind it.
  2. Start the pass immediately. Levels take time, the E.G.O are at 30, 40, 80 and 120, and the season's end date has not been announced, which is not the same as being far away.
  3. Play Canto X. All three parts are out, Uptie III is handed to you, and it is the best-staffed story the game has run.
  4. Run the Mirror of Sisyphe for the weekly economy.
  5. Then decide about pulls, once you know which status your roster actually supports.

New to the game entirely, start with the beginner's guide and the clash and coin explainer, because Limbus combat punishes people who skip the maths.
