The most efficient thing a progressing account can do with Enkephalin is simple: clear your three weekly Mirror Dungeon bonus runs first, then pour everything else into whichever Luxcavation your roster is actually short on. Enkephalin is your only hard stamina limit in this game, and the mistake almost every player makes is letting it sit at cap while the bar quietly stops regenerating. If the meter is full and you are not spending it, you are throwing away roughly ten runs a day.

That is the whole game of farming Limbus Company. Below is how each source works, what it hands you, and a concrete order to spend in this week.

What Enkephalin actually is, and why it caps you

Enkephalin regenerates at 1 point every 6 minutes, which is about 240 per day if you never touch the game and never let it fill. Your cap scales with Manager Level: it starts at 60 and climbs toward 216 at the maximum level. Early levels add +3 to the ceiling, and that shrinks as you climb.

Here is the part that costs people progress. When the bar hits cap, regen stops cold. Log in at 60/60 after eight hours and you have burned a full night of stamina for nothing. The fix is either to spend before you cap or to bank the overflow.

Banking happens through the Enkephalin Module. You craft a module for 20 Enkephalin, and modules are what you actually feed into content: entering or skipping Luxcavation, running Story dungeons, and claiming the good rewards from Mirror Dungeon and Refraction Railway all cost modules. Crafting is one way (you cannot melt a module back into raw Enkephalin), so the move when you are about to cap and cannot play is to convert the surplus into a stack of modules. That frees the meter to keep regenerating, and the modules sit in storage until you need them. Never leave a full bar sitting overnight.

EXP vs Thread: run the right one

Both Luxcavation modes cost modules per run, and both let you spend double the modules to skip the fight for an instant clear plus 50% extra rewards. Skipping is almost always correct once you can auto-win the stage, because your time is worth more than the modules and the bonus rewards stack up fast.

The two modes give completely different things, and which one you need depends on where your account is stuck:

  • EXP Luxcavation hands you Identity Training Tickets (the EXP you feed Identities and E.G.O to raise their level). There are nine stages themed after Cantos I through IX, each tuned to a damage type (Slash, Pierce, or Blunt), so pick the stage that matches the sinners you are leveling. Stages I to III cost 2 modules to clear, and IV to IX cost 3. Run this when you have new units sitting at low level, because an underleveled Identity is dead weight no matter how good its kit is.
  • Thread Luxcavation hands you Thread, the currency for Uptie (upgrading an Identity's skills and passives) and Threadspin (the E.G.O equivalent). Stages are organized by Sin affinity and rotate by weekday, and each level costs 2 modules to clear. There is a daily bonus that doubles the Thread from a limited number of runs, so the efficient pattern is to spend your bonus runs every day rather than dumping a week of stamina in one sitting.

The short rule: level with EXP Luxcavation, then power up what you leveled with Thread Luxcavation. A freshly pulled 3-star does nothing until it is both leveled (EXP) and Uptied (Thread), so most accounts bounce between the two. If you are unsure which units deserve the investment, the Limbus Company tier list sorts out who is worth your Thread, and our team building guide covers how to slot them together.

Turning Mirror Dungeon into shards

Mirror Dungeon is the engine room. It is where the largest single block of Thread, Enkephalin Boxes, shard crates, and extraction tickets comes from, and it is why it should always be your first Enkephalin spend of the week.

The structure that matters for farming is the weekly bonus. Every week you get 3 bonus charges that recharge on reset. A Normal run consumes 5 modules per bonus charge, and Hard runs cost 6 (or 5 once your charges are gone). Spend a charge and the run pays out its full rich reward table. Run Mirror Dungeon after the three charges are exhausted and you get almost nothing for it, just 30 Limbus Pass XP and 100 Manager EXP per clear. So the base mode is technically uncapped, but the rewards you care about are gated to three runs a week. Do those three, every week, without fail.

Reaching the final floor is what pays. The end-of-run table includes extraction tickets (including multi-pull tickets), Egoshard crates, and season-specific rewards, and clearing the whole thing feeds a large chunk of Limbus Pass progress. That last part is the real shard pipeline, which is the next piece.

For the actual mechanics of a run, E.G.O Gift fusion, keyword decks, and Starlight upgrades, see the full Mirror Dungeon guide. This section is only about why it sits at the top of your Enkephalin budget.

How shards get you the specific unit you want

Limbus is generous because you are not fully at the mercy of the banner. Duplicates and crates turn into Egoshards, and shards buy exactly the Identity or E.G.O you name.

The numbers are clean:

  • A duplicate 3-star Identity or E.G.O you extract gives 50 Egoshards.
  • The Dispenser builds a specific 3-star Identity or E.G.O for 400 Egoshards each.

So eight of the right duplicates, or the equivalent in crates, is a guaranteed unit of your choosing. Shards come in a few flavors, and the difference is worth knowing before you spend:

  • General Egoshards are tied to one sinner and can only make that sinner's Identities and E.G.O.
  • Nominable Egoshard Crates let you pick which sinner receives the shards when you open them, so save these for whoever you are actually chasing.
  • Universal shards upgrade (Uptie and Threadspin) across every sinner but cannot be spent at the Dispenser.

Where shards come from, in rough order of volume: extraction duplicates, Egoshard crates from the Limbus Pass (the pass keeps handing out shards past its final reward tier, which is why capping it via Mirror Dungeon matters), event shops, and attendance events. There is no separate stamina cost to shards; they are a byproduct of everything else you farm, which is exactly why steady daily play compounds. If you are building toward a particular unit, cross-check the current banners so you know whether to wait for a rate-up or just Dispense.

Modules, Refraction Railway, and the endgame drain

Two more things quietly eat modules. Refraction Railway is the high-difficulty endgame: fixed teams, no E.G.O Gifts, ranked by how few turns you take. It hands out resources and profile banners through its Lost and Found, claimed with modules. Each season introduces a new Line and retires the old one, so clear a Line's rewards while it is live. It is a skill check more than a farm, but the reward claims still pull from your module bank, so budget for it. Our Refraction Railway walkthrough covers the fights themselves.

The takeaway for module math: modules are shared fuel. Mirror Dungeon, both Luxcavations, and Railway all draw from the same pool, so keep a comfortable reserve rather than spending to zero.

What to farm this week

For a progressing account (story mostly cleared, a working team, a few units half-built), here is the priority order for a fresh weekly reset:

PrioritySourceWhat it givesNotes
1Mirror Dungeon, 3 bonus runsThread, shard crates, extraction tickets, Pass XPHighest value, hard-capped at 3/week. Do first.
2Thread Luxcavation daily bonusThread for Uptie and ThreadspinTake the doubled bonus runs every day.
3EXP LuxcavationIdentity Training TicketsOnly while you have underleveled units to raise.
4Refraction RailwayResources, bannersClaim the current Line's rewards before it retires.
5Leftover modulesExtra Luxcavation skipsSkip stages you can auto-clear for the 50% bonus.

The daily discipline is short. Convert Enkephalin before it caps, spend your three Mirror Dungeon charges early in the week, take the Thread bonus every day, and point EXP Luxcavation at whoever is underleveled. Everything else, shards especially, accumulates on its own as long as you keep the stamina moving.

New to the game and not sure your core team is even worth this investment yet? Start with the beginner's guide, and read the EGO guide before you spend Thread on Threadspin, since a badly chosen E.G.O upgrade is Thread you will wish you had back.
