The Ostrich is a desert mount found in the northeastern sands, notable for gliding and taking reduced fall damage, which makes it handy across broken terrain. Unlike most tames it is not deterred or pen-captured: you collect an egg and hatch it back at base with a heater. It is a fast, mobile alternative to the heavier pack animals once you reach the drier regions.
