Hostile tribes launch raids on your settlement when the Fever bar fills up, sending waves of attackers against your walls. This is the main reason crafting progresses from thatch toward blackstone: stronger fortifications and well-armed tribesmen are what survive a siege. Defenses, traps, and a trained garrison all earn their keep here.
