FAQ answers

Soulmask is a survival crafting game with a hook no other survival game has: a Mask that lets you possess the people you recruit. You wash up in an ancient, overgrown world, survive the basics, and then build a tribe, except you do not just command your tribesmen, you can step into any of them and play as them directly. This wiki tracks the Mask, the tribe systems, combat, and the world.

How Soulmask Plays

You start as one survivor and grow into a civilization. Gather, craft, and build a settlement, then recruit tribesmen by Deterring enemies into joining you, assign them to work, and let the base run itself while you explore or fight. The Mask ties it together: it is your tech tree, your power source, and the thing that lets you swap bodies into whichever tribesman best suits the task in front of you.

The Mask and Your Tribe

The Mask is the heart of the game. Repairing its nodes unlocks abilities, raises how many tribesmen you can hold, from 3 up to 18, and grants the Control that lets you possess them. Because each tribesman has their own proficiencies, you recruit and assign with their talents in mind, and a high-proficiency fighter can become your combat avatar.

Combat and Crafting

Fighting runs on nine weapon classes and dozens of skills, layered with the five Masks' distinct combat styles. Building scales from thatch huts to blackstone fortifications across farming, beekeeping, weaving, leatherworking, and smelting, much of it automated by assigned tribesmen turning your settlement into a production chain.

The World

The Cloud Mist Forest is the lush central realm of rainforest, mountains, and islands where most runs begin, with the Shifting Sands desert expanding the world for established tribes. Each region's climate dictates its threats, resources, and how you have to prepare.

Soulmask FAQ

What is Soulmask?

Soulmask is a survival crafting game set in an ancient jungle world, built around a mysterious Mask that lets you possess and command tribesmen. You survive, build a settlement, recruit NPCs, and grow a civilization that can largely run itself while you explore or fight through the eyes of any tribesman you control.

How does the Mask work in Soulmask?

The Mask is the core progression system. As you repair its nodes it grants new abilities, and once you fix the Control node you can place it on a tribesman to possess them directly, acting through their skills and proficiencies while your own character sleeps. The five Masks each grant a different combat style.

How do you recruit tribesmen in Soulmask?

You recruit through Deterring. Knock an Outcast, Barbarian, or enemy tribesman below roughly 20% health, then interact while wearing the Mask to bring them into your tribe instead of killing them. Your population cap starts at 3 and rises to 18 as you upgrade Connection Enhancement on the Mask.

What regions are in Soulmask?

The world centres on the Cloud Mist Forest, a huge realm spanning rainforest, snowy mountains, and islands, with the Shifting Sands desert region expanding it. Each area has its own climates, ecosystems, enemies, and resources.

Can you automate your base in Soulmask?

Yes. Tribesmen have proficiencies and can be assigned to gather raw materials, handle logistics, and run assembly lines, turning your settlement into a self-sustaining production chain while you do other things.

Does Soulmask have co-op and PvP?

Soulmask plays solo or with others on shared and dedicated servers, in both PvE and PvP rule sets. Server settings let you tune harvest rates, difficulty, and raid rules.
