V Rising Wiki
119 pagesV Rising is a vampire survival action-RPG with a top-down view and real-time combat. You start as a fragile, freshly awakened vampire and claw your way to power by building a castle, mastering blood, and hunting down the V Blood bosses that hold the keys to every new ability and gear tier.
How V Rising Plays
The loop is hunt, drain, build, ascend. You explore a gothic open world, fight for resources, and bring them back to a castle you design and defend. Combat is active and dodge-heavy, closer to an action game than a number-cruncher. The thing that gates your power is not your level alone, it is which V Blood bosses you have beaten.
The Blood System
Blood is your fuel and your build. Every enemy carries a blood type and quality, and drinking it grants buffs: Warrior blood boosts melee, Rogue boosts crit, Scholar boosts spell power, and so on. Chasing high-quality blood of the right type is part of every fight, and it lets you tune your vampire to the situation.
V Blood and Progression
V Blood bosses are the spine of the game. The Blood Altar points you to one near your level; you track it across the map, beat it, and drain it for a permanent power plus the recipes and stations its tier unlocks. Work through them in order and your castle, gear, and abilities grow with every kill.
Spells and Magic
Your spells are as much a part of your build as your weapon. V Rising splits magic into six Schools: Blood for lifesteal, Chaos for fire, Unholy for summons, Frost for control, Illusion for mobility, and Storm for lightning. You unlock spells from V Blood bosses, slot a travel skill and two abilities, and mix schools freely, then tune them with Jewels. The Invaders of Oakveil rework reshaped the whole system, so our spell tier list is the fastest way to see what is strong now.
Castles, Sun, and Multiplayer
Your castle is both home and progression hub: it houses your crafting, your coffin, and the structures bosses unlock, and on PvP servers it can be raided. The sun is a constant threat that shapes how you travel. And V Rising is built for groups: clan up for co-op, or play PvP where other vampires are the real bosses. See our setup guides to get started.

Stunlock Studios confirms V Rising is complete and announces a new game in the same universe
In Dev Update #32 titled 'The Next Era,' Stunlock confirmed that V Rising's content arc ending with version 1.1 is complete and no further major expansions are planned; technical limitations in the original codebase made building on it inadvisable. The studio is now developing a new, more ambitious game set in the same gothic world, describing the project as 'very early in development,' while V Rising will continue to receive balance patches and bug fixes.
Castle Arena and Duels added
Update 1.1 introduced player-built Castle Arenas with custom rules for organized fights, plus risk-free one-on-one Duels you can start almost anywhere in the world.
Schools of Magic reworked in 1.1
The Invaders of Oakveil update overhauled V Rising's magic system: Blood became a powerhouse, Frost was nerfed slightly, and Storm and Chaos were rebalanced, alongside new spells tied to Megara's legendary shard.
Invaders of Oakveil (1.1) launches free
V Rising's major 1.1 update adds the Oakveil Woodlands region, the Serpent Queen Megara and her Venom Blades faction, three new weapons (throwing daggers, claws, and a dual-bladed staff), and seven new spells, free for all owners.
