V Rising Servants Guide: Converting Thralls, Blood Quality, and Passive Loot While You Sleep

Servants are V Rising's quiet economy engine: convert a high-blood human, send them on expeditions, and collect gear and resources even while you are offline. Here is the full conversion process, why blood quality decides everything, and how to run a servant roster that pays for itself.

Table of Contents

If your castle has a workshop and a throne but no servants, you are leaving free loot on the table every single hour you are logged out. Servants are the closest thing V Rising has to passive income: converted humans who guard your halls and, more importantly, march off on expeditions to bring back gear, resources, and blood essence while you do literally anything else. Set the roster up once and it quietly funds your progression for the rest of the wipe.

The catch is that a bad servant is nearly worthless and a good one is a small fortune, and the difference comes down to one number you control at the moment of capture.

Unlocking the ability to charm

You cannot convert anyone until you unlock Dominating Presence, the ability that lets you enthrall a weakened human. You earn it by defeating the right V Blood boss, so if the power is not in your kit yet, that is your first task. Work through the boss progression until it is unlocked.

You also need somewhere to put your new recruit. Craft a Servant Coffin once your Castle Heart is at its second level. Each coffin holds one servant, so plan floor space for several: this is a roster, not a single hire.

The conversion, step by step

The process is finicky the first time and muscle memory after that.

  1. Pick your target carefully. Blood quality is set at capture and never improves, so scout for a high-quality human of the class you want before you start swinging.
  2. Weaken, do not kill. Use regular weapon attacks, not spells, to bring the human below roughly 30% health. Overkill it and you get nothing.
  3. Channel Dominating Presence. With the target low, activate the ability nearby. The human becomes charmed and follows you home.
  4. Walk them to an empty coffin. Lead your charmed thrall back to the castle and interact with a Servant Coffin to begin conversion.
  5. Pay and wait. Conversion costs Blood Essence and takes real time in the coffin. Later patches cut the wait substantially, but it still runs while you do other things, so start it and move on.

When they emerge, the human's class and blood carry over into the servant's stats and expertise.

Why blood quality is the whole game

This is the part that separates a productive roster from a row of dead weight. The blood quality of the human you convert determines how strong the resulting servant is, and the gap is enormous.

Blood quality at captureWhat you get
Below 50%Barely worth the coffin slot. Skip it.
60% to 74%Serviceable. Fine early, replace later.
75% to 89%The practical target. Strong expedition performers.
90% and upElite. A 90% servant is roughly 40% stronger than a 30% one. Grab these on sight.

The lesson: do not convert the first human you weaken. Learn to read blood quality, hold out for 75% and up, and treat a 90%+ target as a genuine find worth going out of your way for. A roster of high-blood servants outperforms twice as many mediocre ones. If you are unclear on how blood types and quality work in the first place, the blood types guide is worth a read before you start hunting recruits.

Class and expertise: match the servant to the job

Each human class carries a unique expertise that changes how well a servant performs on different missions. A soldier-type is not the same asset as a worker-type. As you build the roster, aim for a spread of expertises so you can field the right servant for whatever an expedition demands, rather than sending a mismatched thrall and getting a worse haul.

Gear the servant up, too. Servants can be equipped, and their combat power feeds directly into mission success rates and the quality of loot they bring back, so a well-armed high-blood servant is the one you want on your riskiest runs.

Expeditions: the actual payoff

Servant expeditions are why the whole system exists. Send servants out on timed missions and they return with gear, resources, and materials without you lifting a finger. Run them like a job:

  • Keep every capable servant deployed. An idle servant earns nothing. Queue missions before you log off so the timers run through the night.
  • Match power to risk. Higher-tier expeditions demand stronger servants and the right expertise, but they pay proportionally. Send your best on the best missions.
  • Use it to smooth gear level spikes. Expedition rewards can plug the equipment gaps that otherwise stall you between bosses, keeping your own power curve moving.

The habit that makes it worth it

Servants reward a small daily ritual: capture opportunistically while you are out fighting, hold your standards on blood quality, keep coffins full, and never leave the roster sitting idle. Do that and V Rising quietly funds a chunk of your progression while you are asleep or off clearing the next V Blood.
