Sneaking
Perfect for the stealth approach. Max sneaking reduces your initial visibility by 60%, makes you 20% harder to detect in daylight, and uses 75% less stamina. Great for avoiding fights or setting up devastating backstabs.
Pickaxe & Woodcutting
These resource gathering skills increase your damage to ore and trees by 140%. Mining and logging become significantly faster, which means more time building and less time grinding resources.

Fishing
If you enjoy fishing for food, the 200% faster reeling speed and 80% reduced stamina usage makes it way less tedious. But if you're not fishing, this doesn't matter.
Swimming

Crossbows
On paper, the 141% damage increase and 50% faster reload sounds great. In practice, crossbows are painfully slow to level compared to bows because they give less XP per hit. Only focus here if you really love crossbows.

Abyssal Razor

The strongest bow in the game for most of your playthrough. Poison damage stacks with everything else, and when you pair it with Frost Arrows... things die. Fast.
Huntsman Bow
A solid upgrade to your Crude Bow. Increased range and damage make this your go to ranged weapon until you can craft Draugr Fang.
Silver Sword
Surprisingly powerful even compared to later weapons. The Spirit damage melts enemies weak to it, and it's accessible in the Mountains.
Late Game (Plains & Mistlands)
Skoll and Hati ⭐⭐⭐
One of the most powerful weapon combinations in Valheim. High damage, fast attack speed, and the dual wielding makes you feel like an absolute Viking warrior.
Mistwalker
Top tier sword from the Mistlands. If you prefer one handed combat, this is your endgame choice.
Blackmetal Weapons
The Plains biome unlocks Blackmetal, which means access to powerful weapons across all types. The Blackmetal Axe has high damage with splash damage. The Blackmetal Knife is fast and deadly. Pick your style.
Himmin Afl, Jotun Bane, Krom, Spine Snap
These are all S tier endgame weapons depending on your build and preferences. Each excels in different situations and against different enemy types.
Staff of Embers / Staff of Frost

Armor Tier List: Staying Alive Through the Biomes

Rag Armor

Troll Armor ⭐

Bronze Armor
Offers better defense than Troll Armor but slows you down by 10%. If you're not worried about speed and want maximum protection in the Black Forest, go Bronze. Most players prefer Troll Armor for the mobility.
Mid Game (Swamp & Mountains)
Root Armor ⭐
Root Armor is underrated. Similar base stats to Bronze, but with incredible bonuses. The mask gives poison resistance (crucial for Swamps), the chest gives pierce resistance, and the full set adds +15 to bow skill. The only downside? Weakness to fire. Avoid the Ashlands.
Iron Armor
A significant armor upgrade over Bronze. The 5-10% movement speed penalty is noticeable but manageable. Solid choice if you value defense over mobility.
Wolf Armor ⭐⭐
This is the armor set that gets you through the Mountains. The built in frost resistance means you can actually explore without constantly eating resistance foods. Plus it looks absolutely awesome. The chest piece and cape both provide frost resistance, so you can mix and match.
Fenris Armor
The speedy alternative to Wolf Armor in the Mountains. Each piece gives 3% movement speed and the set has fire resistance plus +15 to Fists skill. If you like staying fast and punching things, Fenris is your friend.
Late Game (Plains & Mistlands)
Padded Armor
High protection before you reach the Mistlands. A reliable choice for tackling the Plains biome.
Carapace Armor ⭐⭐⭐
As of the Mistlands update, this is the highest defense armor in the game. A full level 1 set gives 96 armor, though you'll move 10% slower. When you're facing the deadliest enemies Valheim has to offer, that trade off is worth it.
Eitr-Weave Armor
Designed specifically for magic users. If you're running a mage build in the Mistlands, this is your go to set for maximizing Eitr and spell effectiveness.
