Every talent you push past level 6 in Genshin Impact is gated behind a Trounce Domain, the game's name for its weekly bosses. Clear them wrong and you burn 60 Original Resin per run. Clear them in the right order and the first three cost 30 each. That single habit, learned once, is worth an extra weekly boss run every single week for the entire life of your account.
So before the drop tables and the boss list, the one rule that matters most: your first three weekly boss claims each week cost 30 Original Resin. The fourth and every one after cost 60. The counter resets Monday at 04:00 server time, and it does not care which bosses you fight. Three discounted claims, spread across any Trounce Domains you like, then full price.
How the discount actually works
The discount is tied to claims, not to a specific boss. When you defeat a Trounce Domain boss, a chest appears and asks you to spend resin to open it. For your first three chests of the reset week, that price is 30 Resin. From the fourth chest onward it is 60.
A few details that trip people up:
- You can walk away without paying. If you beat the boss but the drops look bad, you do not have to open the chest. But the fight still happened, so there is no reason not to claim while you are there. The resin is only spent on the claim.
- Condensed Resin does not work here. Unlike overworld bosses and artifact domains, Trounce Domains only accept Original Resin. There is no way to double a claim, so do not save Condensed Resin for them.
- Co-op does not multiply drops. Helping a friend clear their boss is fine, but you still pay your own resin to claim your own rewards, and it counts against your own three-claim discount.
Here is the resin math for a full week if you run four bosses: 30 + 30 + 30 + 60 = 150 Resin for four claims. Run only three and you spend 90 for three. That difference, 60 resin, is a whole extra boss most weeks, which across a patch is real talent levels you would otherwise never farm.
What Trounce Domains give you
Weekly bosses are the exclusive source of the rare talent ascension material each character needs to raise a single talent from level 6 to 10. You cannot buy it, craft it, or farm it anywhere else. That is what makes these runs non-negotiable for anyone building a character to endgame.
A single claim can drop:
- The character-tier talent material (the reason you are here), used to max talents.
- A guaranteed chunk of Mora and character EXP materials.
- Occasional artifacts and, more importantly, the material shared by many characters in that boss's region.
Because talent materials are region-locked to a boss, the boss you need depends entirely on who you are building, not on which fight you like.
Every Trounce Domain and what it drops
Each weekly boss holds three unique talent materials, and nothing else in the game drops them. The table is the whole roster, oldest nation first, so you can find the boss by the material name you are short of rather than the other way round.
| Trounce Domain | Boss | Region | Its three unique talent materials |
|---|---|---|---|
| Confront Stormterror | Dvalin | Mondstadt | Dvalin's Plume, Dvalin's Claw, Dvalin's Sigh |
| Wolf of the North Challenge | Andrius | Mondstadt | Tail of Boreas, Ring of Boreas, Spirit Locket of Boreas |
| Enter the Golden House | Childe (Tartaglia) | Liyue | Tusk of Monoceros Caeli, Shard of a Foul Legacy, Shadow of the Warrior |
| Beneath the Dragon-Queller | Azhdaha | Liyue | Dragon Lord's Crown, Bloodjade Branch, Gilded Scale |
| Narukami Island: Tenshukaku | La Signora | Inazuma | Molten Moment, Hellfire Butterfly, Ashen Heart |
| End of the Oneiric Euthymia | Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto | Inazuma | Mudra of the Malefic General, Tears of the Calamitous God, The Meaning of Aeons |
| Joururi Workshop | Everlasting Lord of Arcane Wisdom (Scaramouche) | Sumeru | Puppet Strings, Mirror of Mushin, Daka's Bell |
| The Realm of Beginnings | Guardian of Apep's Oasis | Sumeru | Worldspan Fern, Primordial Greenbloom, Everamber |
| Shadow of Another World | All-Devouring Narwhal | Fontaine | Lightless Mass, Lightless Eye of the Maelstrom, Lightless Silk String |
| Scattered Ruins | The Knave (Arlecchino) | Fontaine | Fading Candle, Silken Feather, Denial and Judgment |
| Stone Stele Records | Lord of Eroded Primal Fire | Natlan | Eroded Horn, Eroded Sunfire, Eroded Scale-Feather |
| False Moon Institute | Heretic of the False Moon (The Doctor) | Nod-Krai | Added in 6.3; drop names not yet confirmed here |
| Not yet confirmed | Ronova | Not yet confirmed | Added in 7.1; drop names not yet confirmed here |
Two rows above are deliberately incomplete, and it is worth being plain about why. The Doctor's domain arrived with Nod-Krai in 6.3 and Ronova became farmable in 7.1. For Ronova we could not confirm the domain name, the region or the three material names against a source we can read, and the 7.1 coverage that does exist says the same thing: her material names are shown on the Trounce Domain reward screen rather than published anywhere. For The Doctor the domain is confirmed, the drops are not. Guessing those cells would make the table look complete and be wrong, which is worse than a blank. Everything else here is settled data that has not moved in years.
One structural thing worth knowing before you plan a week: the newest boss is not automatically the one you need. Materials are tied to the characters released around a nation, not to difficulty or recency, so a 7.1 account building a two-year-old unit is still going back to Inazuma.
Who actually needs which boss
| Boss | The builds that send you here |
|---|---|
| Dvalin | Venti, Klee, and the rest of the launch five-stars |
| Andrius | Diluc, Chongyun, Razor |
| Childe | Kokomi, Ayaka, Eula, Ganyu |
| Azhdaha | Hu Tao, Xiao, Zhongli |
| La Signora | Yoimiya, Kazuha, Yelan |
| Magatsu Mitake Narukami | Raiden, Ayato, Kuki Shinobu |
| Scaramouche | Tighnari, Nilou, the Nahida-era cast |
| Guardian of Apep's Oasis | The later Sumeru Dendro units |
| All-Devouring Narwhal | The early Fontaine roster |
| The Knave | The later Fontaine roster |
| Lord of Eroded Primal Fire | The Natlan roster |
Check the material your target needs on their character screen before you spend a claim. The game tells you which boss it comes from, and it is faster than guessing from the nation they debuted in.
Which bosses to run first
Since the discount is shared, priority is simple: claim for the characters you are actively leveling, newest builds first. A practical order for most accounts:
- The boss that gates your current main-DPS talent. Talent levels 8 to 10 are among the biggest damage jumps in the game, and they come only from here.
- The boss for a support you are finishing. A maxed burst talent on a healer or buffer often outvalues another artifact reroll.
- A boss whose region-wide material you are short on, if you have a claim left and nothing better to spend it on.
If you are not building anyone this week, it is completely fine to skip. Weekly boss drops do not expire, the discount just resets, and there is no penalty for banking your resin toward artifact farming instead. Do not run bosses out of guilt.
Common mistakes that cost you levels
- Spending the 60-resin claims on old characters you already maxed. Once a talent is at 10, stop feeding that boss.
- Forgetting the reset. Clear your three discounted runs sometime Monday through Sunday. Many players clear them Monday alongside their weekly commission and Battle Pass reset so they never miss the window.
- Under-leveling for the fight and eating resin on a slow clear. If a Trounce Domain is a wall, that usually means your team needs better artifacts or a cleaner crit ratio more than it needs another talent level.
- Ignoring Resin entirely. Every claim is resin you did not spend on artifact farming or ascension materials, so weekly bosses compete with the rest of your Resin economy. Budget them.
The one-line version
Beat your three discounted claims each week for whoever you are actually building, skip the 60-resin claims unless a specific talent needs them, and never bring Condensed Resin. Do that and your talent levels keep climbing for the price of the least resin the game will let you pay.
From there it is a question of who to build. If you are deciding where those maxed talents should go, our best characters guide and the Genshin tier list rank the cast, and the team building guide shows which of them actually want their talents pushed to 10 first. For where to spend the rest of your week, the Imaginarium Theater guide and Spiral Abyss walkthrough are the two endgames those talents are for.
The resin rule above (three discounted claims a week, shared across every Trounce Domain, reset Monday 04:00 server time) is confirmed against Game8's weekly boss list and the Genshin Impact Wiki's Domain page. The Fontaine, Natlan and Nod-Krai rows, including the Shadow of Another World, Scattered Ruins, Stone Stele Records and False Moon Institute domain names, are from Game8's per-domain pages. Verified October 2, 2026. The two incomplete rows are flagged in the table rather than filled in: when HoYoverse or the wikis publish The Doctor's and Ronova's material names we will add them, and until then the reward screen in game is the authority.
