17 pages

Enshrouded is a survival action-RPG set in a vast, broken world swallowed by a deadly fog called the Shroud. You are a Flameborn, woken to rebuild what was lost: revive the Flame, rescue the crafters, gear up through a deep skill tree, and push deeper into the Shroud to reclaim the land.

How Enshrouded Plays

The loop is explore, gather, build, push the Shroud back. You harvest materials, craft better gear, and use Flame Altars to grow the safe zone around your bases. Combat is action-driven across melee, bow, and magic, and a flexible skill tree lets you build however you like and respec when you want to try something new.

The Shroud

The Shroud is the game's signature threat. Step into the fog and a timer starts counting down to death, so early on you can only dip in briefly. Upgrading your Flame and your gear extends that timer, which is what lets you reach the resources, dungeons, and regions hidden inside the deeper Shroud. Progression and exploration are tied directly to how long you can survive the fog.

Flame, Survivors, and Bosses

Lighting and leveling Flame Altars expands your territory and unlocks fast travel and building range. Scattered across the world are Survivors, NPC crafters like the Blacksmith, Alchemist, and Hunter, who join your base and teach you recipes once rescued. And bosses guard key materials and routes, gating the next tier of gear and the next stretch of the map.

Building and Multiplayer

Building is voxel-based and free-form: dig, sculpt, and raise structures however you imagine, with comfort bonuses for good bases. And the whole game scales to co-op for up to 16 players, so a group can split building, gathering, and boss fights. See our setup guides to get a world or server running.

Enshrouded FAQ

What is Enshrouded?

Enshrouded is a survival action-RPG with voxel-based building. You play a Flameborn waking into a ruined, fog-choked world, and you rebuild, gear up, and push back the Shroud while reviving the crafters who teach you new skills.

What is the Shroud in Enshrouded?

The Shroud is a dangerous fog that covers parts of the world. Inside it you can only survive for a limited time before it kills you, shown by a timer. Upgrading your Flame and gear extends how long you can venture in, which gates exploration.

How do you progress in Enshrouded?

Light and upgrade Flame Altars to expand your safe territory, rescue Survivor NPCs who unlock crafting (the Blacksmith, Alchemist, Hunter, and more), and defeat bosses to gain materials and access deeper, more dangerous regions.

Is Enshrouded multiplayer?

Yes. Enshrouded supports co-op for up to 16 players in a shared world, so you can split building, gathering, and boss fights across a group.

Does Enshrouded have classes?

There are no locked classes. A large, flexible skill tree lets you lean into melee, ranged, or magic and respec as you like, so your build is defined by your skill points and gear rather than a fixed role.

How does building work in Enshrouded?

Building is voxel-based and free-form: you can dig, sculpt terrain, and raise structures block by block. Comfort and Flame upgrades reward well-built bases, and your base is your launch pad for Shroud runs.
