Choosing Your Style
Enshrouded doesn't lock you into a class. You can mix weapons and abilities freely:
- Warrior: Melee weapon + shield, tank skill tree
- Ranger: Bow + dagger, agility skill tree
- Mage: Staff + wand, magic skill tree
- Hybrid: Mix any combination that suits your playstyle
Skill Trees
Enshrouded has three main skill trees. You earn skill points by leveling up and can invest in any combination:
Warrior Tree
- Increased melee damage and stagger
- Block and parry improvements
- Health and armor bonuses
- Crowd control abilities (knockback, stun)
Ranger Tree
- Increased ranged damage and critical hits
- Faster movement and dodge distance
- Stealth and backstab bonuses
- Multi-shot and piercing abilities
Mage Tree
- Increased spell damage and mana pool
- Elemental specializations (fire, ice, lightning)
- Area-of-effect spell improvements
- Healing and support abilities
Tip: You can respec your skill points at the Flame Altar, so experiment freely.
Boss Encounters
Bosses in Enshrouded guard important progression milestones. Defeating them unlocks new areas, NPCs, and crafting recipes.
Scavenger Matron (Early Game)
- Location: Springlands, near the first Flame Altar
- Difficulty: Easy
- Drops: Unlocks Blacksmith NPC
- Strategy: Basic melee combat, dodge when she lunges. Watch for ground-slam AoE.
- Co-op tip: One player tanks, others attack from behind.
Fell Thunderbrute (Early-Mid Game)
- Location: Revelwood borders
- Difficulty: Medium
- Drops: Unlocks new crafting tier
- Strategy: Lightning-based attacks have obvious telegraphs. Dodge sideways, not backward. Ranged attacks are safest between his combos.
- Co-op tip: Spread out to avoid chain lightning hitting multiple players.
Shroud Lord (Mid Game)
- Location: Deep within the Shroud
- Difficulty: Hard
- Drops: Extends Shroud timer significantly
- Strategy: Bring Shroud resistance gear. The boss summons minions — deal with them quickly. Phases change at 50% and 25% health.
- Co-op tip: Assign one player to clear adds, others focus the boss.
Ancient Warden (Late Game)
- Location: Kindlewastes
- Difficulty: Very Hard
- Drops: Endgame crafting recipes
- Strategy: Multiple phases with different attack patterns. Requires high-tier armor and weapons. Interruptible charge attack — time your dodge carefully.
- Co-op tip: Full 4-player team recommended. Bring both melee and ranged.
Emberveil Guardian (Endgame)
- Location: Final area
- Difficulty: Extreme
- Drops: Best equipment materials
- Strategy: The hardest boss in the game. Learn all attack patterns in earlier attempts. Consumables (health potions, buffs) are essential. Expect multiple attempts.
- Co-op tip: Full group with coordinated roles. One healer/support, two DPS, one tank.
Combat on a Dedicated Server
Performance During Boss Fights
Boss encounters are more demanding on server resources than exploration:
- 4+ players at a boss: Standard (16 GB) plan recommended
- 16-player raids: Performance (24 GB) plan for smooth combat
- Our NVMe SSDs ensure fast entity loading during spawn-heavy fights
Difficulty Scaling
Enshrouded scales enemy health and damage based on player count. On a dedicated server with many players, bosses have significantly more health. Coordinate your group and ensure everyone is properly geared.
Death & Respawning
When you die in Enshrouded:
- You drop a tombstone with your items at the death location
- You respawn at the nearest Flame Altar
- Return to your tombstone to recover items
- If you die again before recovering, your previous tombstone remains
On a dedicated server, your tombstone persists even if you log out. Other players can see but not loot your tombstone.
Combat Tips
- Dodge is king: Most attacks in Enshrouded can be dodged with proper timing. Learn the iframe window.
- Craft consumables: Health potions, stamina boosters, and elemental resistance items make hard fights manageable.
- Upgrade armor first: Defense matters more than offense for survival. You can't deal damage if you're dead.
- Use terrain: Enemies struggle with elevation changes. Fight from raised positions when possible.
- Backup your world: Before attempting a difficult boss for the first time, create a manual backup from your control panel.
