Abiotic Factor Wiki
81 pagesAbiotic Factor is a co-op survival crafting game from Deep Field Games, set deep inside the GATE Cascade Research Facility after everything goes catastrophically wrong. You and up to five friends play a team of scientists who have to survive on improvised gear, build a base out of office junk, and figure out the breach that filled the facility with monsters and tore open portals to alien worlds. It wears its Half-Life inspiration proudly, and this wiki tracks its sectors, enemies, and systems.
How Abiotic Factor Plays
The loop is scavenge, craft, survive, explore deeper. You break down chairs, electronics, and lab equipment into weapons, tools, and base parts, manage survival needs that include hunger, thirst, sleep, and a restroom meter, and push out from a defensible home base into more dangerous sectors. Combat is improvised and often funny, but the facility is lethal, so preparation beats bravado.
Choosing a Job
Character creation starts with a job background pulled from the facility's old staff roster, and it sets your starting skills, XP bonuses, and trait points. There are no hard classes, so a job is an early lean rather than a lock: anyone can learn anything through use. The combat-leaning Trans-Kinematic Researcher and the flexible Summer Intern are standout picks, while a co-op team benefits from a dedicated Epimedical Bionomicist medic and an Archotechnic Consultant builder. Our job tier list ranks all nine.
The Facility and Its Sectors
The GATE facility is the map, layered into sectors that open up as you progress, from the starter Office Sector to Cascade Laboratories, the Manufacturing Sector, and beyond. Each is a fresh source of salvage and a fresh set of threats, and you keep returning to earlier ones better equipped.
Enemies and the Leyak
Threats come in three flavours, Human, Creature, and Robot, from the armed Order to rogue security robots to alien Exor. The standout is the Leyak, a stalker that haunts you across the facility and can only be repelled with X-Ray light or a steady stare. Learning to manage her instead of fearing her is a rite of passage.
Portal Worlds and Progression
The breach opens portals to the Anteverse, alien pocket worlds like the Mycofields, where the renewable resources live. Expeditions out there, and the better gear, power, and base tech you unlock back home, are how you turn a desperate scramble into a thriving underground settlement.

Abiotic Factor FAQ
What is Abiotic Factor?
Abiotic Factor is a 1-to-6-player survival crafting game from Deep Field Games, set in the GATE Cascade Research Facility after a containment breach. You play a team of scientists surviving an apocalypse with improvised gear, building bases from facility junk and venturing into alien portal worlds. It is heavily inspired by Half-Life.
How many players is Abiotic Factor co-op?
Abiotic Factor supports 1 to 6 players in online co-op. Solo play is fully supported, but the survival, crafting, and exploration loop is designed around a small team splitting roles, and most of the comedy lands harder with friends.
How do you stop the Leyak in Abiotic Factor?
The Leyak is a stalker entity that starts hunting you after you reach XR Containment in Cascade Laboratories. You repel her with X-Ray light sources like the X-Ray Tower and X-Ray Lamp, or by keeping her in direct, unobstructed sight. Driving her off can drop Leyak Essence, a crafting material.
What are the portal worlds in Abiotic Factor?
The containment breach opens portals to the Anteverse, a set of hostile alien pocket worlds such as the lava-filled Mycofields. They are dangerous but hold renewable resources you cannot farm in the facility, so you return to them repeatedly with better gear.
Does the job you pick matter in Abiotic Factor?
Your job background sets your starting traits and skills, but there are no hard classes. Anyone can learn any skill through use, so your job gives you an early lean rather than locking your build. Lab Assistant is a balanced, beginner-friendly choice.
What is the best job in Abiotic Factor?
For solo play, the Trans-Kinematic Researcher gives the strongest survivable start, while the Summer Intern offers maximum flexibility with free trait points. In co-op, support jobs like the Epimedical Bionomicist medic gain value. See our job tier list for the full ranking of all nine.
Is Abiotic Factor on Game Pass or Steam?
Yes to both. Abiotic Factor hit its 1.0 release on July 22, 2025, and is available on Steam, on Xbox Series X|S via Xbox Game Pass, and on PS5 via the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog.
