A GTX 1060 and 8 GB of RAM will run it. That is the floor, and it is a genuinely low one for a 2026 Unreal Engine 5 game.
The specs
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10, 64-bit | Windows 10, 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 | Intel Core i5-10600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| GPU | NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB, AMD RX 5600XT, or Intel Arc A750 8GB | NVIDIA RTX 2070 6GB or AMD RX 5700 XT 8GB |
| DirectX | 12 | 12 |
| Storage | 25 GB | 25 GB |
Both tiers want a 64-bit processor and operating system. The recommended tier additionally lists a broadband connection, which is about co-op rather than about the game refusing to run offline.
Twenty five gigabytes is small for the genre. Jagex has not published separate specs for Linux or Steam Deck.
What DLSS and FSR changed
Patch 1.0.0.5 on 25 September added DLSS and FSR upscaling on Windows and Xbox Game Pass. That matters most at the minimum spec: a GTX 1060 is a 2016 card, and upscaling is the difference between the minimum tier being technically supported and actually pleasant.
If you are near the floor, turn one of them on before you start adjusting anything else.
Every platform it runs on
Dragonwilds went to 1.0 on 15 September 2026 across:
- PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Jagex Launcher
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X and Series S
- Nintendo Switch 2
That console launch is the headline on its own: it is the first time a RuneScape game has shipped on a console in the series' twenty five year history.
The Standard Edition is $29.99 and the Deluxe Edition $39.99, and it was available day one on Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium. Steam lists eleven languages including Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Brazilian Portuguese.
Running your own server is a separate question
The specs above cover playing. Hosting is a different budget, and a much smaller one.
A dedicated server wants 2 GB of RAM plus 1 GB per player, which is 8 GB for a full six-player server, on a 64-bit Windows or Linux host with port 7777 open. A hosted world run from your game client instead caps at four players and needs nothing extra.
Two things to know before you buy at the minimum spec
Crossplay is per session. You enable it when you load a world, and people join with invite codes. A Switch 2 player and a PC player can share a world, but the four-player cap on hosted worlds does not move.
There was a save corruption problem at launch. It hit roughly a thousand players on console and PC Game Pass, triggered by disconnects and console sleep mode, and Jagex traced it mainly to the Edit Appearance feature, which is currently disabled. The fix ships in 1.0.1, targeted for mid-October: affected characters come back with tier 4 equipment and skills set to aggregated average levels, keeping their name, appearance and private chest access.
It is worth knowing rather than worth avoiding the game over, but if you play on console, do not rely on sleep mode as a save.
Once it is installed, the beginner's guide covers the first day, and the Ashenfall overview covers where the next sixty hours go.
