Skritch has 9,000 health and takes 90% less damage everywhere except its guts. It arrived with the Rot and Ruin update, it is rated tier 4 where every other boss with a published stat block tops out at tier 3, and by every published number it is now the hardest fight in the game.

Here is the comparison that makes the point, because a health bar alone does not:

BossTierHealthDamage resistWeak pointStun threshold
Skritch49,00090%Guts100
King Dozer37,50020% to 70%, by phaseEyes275
Axl35,00075%Rump100
General Berserker21,950nonenone90

Read the stun column next to the health column and the fight designs itself. Skritch carries 4.6 times King Dozer's health on a stun threshold of 100 against his 275, and its stun cooldown is 25 seconds against his 120. So the biggest health bar in the game is also the one you can stagger most often, by a wide margin. That is not generosity. A 90% resist means ordinary hits are doing a tenth of their printed damage, so the stun is the mechanism: you break it, the guts open, and that window is where the health bar actually comes off. Stunning repeatedly is the plan rather than a bonus, and a heavy stagger weapon is worth more here than a high-damage one.

What it resists

TypeEffect
Fresh-75% damage
Spicy-75% damage
Sour-75% damage
Stabbing-75% damage
Smashing-75% damage
Explosive-50% damage
Venom-90% damage, -75% buildup
WoozyImmune to buildup

Note what that list rules out: both of the physical types you would reach for first are halved and then halved again, so there is no weapon that solves this through the resist. Slashing is the one physical type absent from the list, which is also the type that clears the termites the arena keeps producing.

Getting in, and the thing that refills its health

The arena is the Sacrificial Pit landmark, in the Fire Pit area of the Wood Pile on the northern edge of the park. The fight is started by creating the Glo' Boy at the Wood Pile Altar in one of the arena's corners. Once it begins the entrance seals until you or Skritch is dead, and if you lose, the Glo' Boy's ingredients reappear beside the altar rather than being consumed, so a wipe costs you time and not materials.

Its attack list, off the wiki's own stat page: a 3-Bite Combo, a venomous variant of it, a 5-Bite Combo, a Body Slam, two emerge attacks (Chomp and Roar), and Larva Eat. That last one is the one to know: Skritch recovers health by eating the termite larvae in the arena, so killing the larvae before it reaches them is the difference between a long fight and an unwinnable one. The new Perfect Dodge mechanic that shipped in the same update costs no stamina on a clean dodge, which is what makes countering the bite combos practical rather than theoretical.

One quirk worth knowing before the kill rather than after: part of the loot depends on whether the Termite Queen was given a Thoughtful or a Thoughtless Gift, so the Woodpile's termite questline changes what this boss pays out. Rot and Ruin also added a Centipede Staff, a Centipede armor set, the Cane-tipede, the Centi-Cultist mask, robe and leggings, the Howl of the Centipede mutation, and a set of Centipede furniture, which is the actual reason to come back here.

What is not confirmed

Two things, stated rather than smoothed over. Whether Rot and Ruin is live for all players is not something Obsidian has printed: the 0.6.0 public test opened October 6, the full patch notes were published October 20, and no announcement since says the build has gone out generally. And the Glo' Boy recipe circulating in fight guides (termite parts, larva hides and spew spore chunks) is not something this stat page confirms, so it is left out above.

Health, tier, the 90% resist, the stun values, the weak point, the attack list and the loot table were read off the Grounded Wiki's Skritch page on 2026-10-26. The patch contents come from Obsidian's own 0.6.0 notes on Steam. The larva advice is from published fight reports, not a stat block. See the full boss list and the roadmap page for what else shipped with it.
