Roughly 60 to 80 warps a patch. That is the honest number for a free-to-play Honkai: Star Rail account that clears its content and does not sit on unspent daily missions. Put differently, about 9,000 to 13,000 Stellar Jade every six weeks, which is enough to guarantee one featured five-star most patches if you are disciplined about when you spend it.
The spread is wide because the floor is boring and the ceiling takes effort. Dailies alone barely move you. The players who hit the top of that range are the ones squeezing the endgame modes and never letting an event expire. Here is the full accounting.
Where the jade actually comes from
A patch runs about 42 days. Line up every recurring source against that window and the picture gets concrete fast.
| Source | Stellar Jade per patch | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Daily missions (60 a day) | ~2,520 | Your steady baseline, and the one thing you should never skip |
| Nameless Honor free track | ~680 | Earned just by playing; the paid track adds far more |
| Events and event quests | 3,000 to 5,000 | The single biggest and most variable bucket |
| Memory of Chaos | up to 800 | Full clear only, refreshes with the patch cycle |
| Pure Fiction | up to 800 | Same cycle, different scoring gimmick |
| Apocalyptic Shadow | up to 800 | The third endgame rotation |
| Special Program livestream codes | ~300 to 500 | Three codes per stream, redeem within the window |
| Simulated and Divergent Universe | ~200 to 400 | First-clear points, Herta Store, weekly refresh |
| Mail, maintenance, patch compensation | 300 to 600 | HoYo is generous after downtime |
Add the middle of each range and you land near 11,000 jade, or about 70 warps at 160 jade each. Clear everything and win a few event minigames you would otherwise skip, and the ceiling is real.
The sources most people leave on the table
Dailies are automatic. The gap between an average F2P account and a good one lives in three places.
- The three endgame rotations. Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow each hand out up to 800 Stellar Jade, so a full clear of all three is 2,400 a patch. That is roughly 15 warps you get for beating content you already have the roster for. If your teams stall at, say, 30 of 36 stars, the missing jade is the best possible reason to finally build that second team. Our endgame guide breaks down how to push those last stars.
- Every livestream code. Each Special Program drops three codes worth roughly 100 jade apiece, but they expire within a day or two of the stream. Miss the window and it is simply gone. We post them the moment they go live on the HSR codes page.
- Old events on their last day. Event jade does not carry a pity or a catch-up. An expired event is permanent lost income. Check the event tab whenever a phase is ending.
Turning income into a five-star
Knowing you earn ~70 warps a patch is only useful if you spend them at the right moment. The system that governs that is the pity counter.
The featured character banner soft-guarantees a five-star by pull 90, and the first five-star you get is a coin flip: win the 50/50 and it is the featured unit, lose it and your next five-star is guaranteed to be. Worst case, a specific character costs you 180 pulls. Best case, 90 or fewer. On average most players land somewhere around 100 to 120 pulls for a guaranteed grab.
Set against ~70 warps of income per patch, the math is clear: you can reliably afford one featured character per patch, not two. Trying to grab everyone is how F2P accounts end up with a pile of half-pity and no guarantees. Pick your target, ignore the rest, and let the counter do its job. If you are torn between two banners, the tier list and our best characters guide sort the must-haves from the nice-to-haves, and the pull planner will tell you whether your current stash clears pity in time.
Stretching every jade further
A few habits compound over a year:
- Never refill Trailblaze Power with Jade. A stamina top-up costs pull currency for a marginal amount of mats. The only time it pays is a double-drop event, and even then Fuel comes first. The full breakdown lives in the Trailblaze Power guide.
- Bank toward guarantees, not toward "I have enough for ten pulls." Ten-pull dopamine is how savings evaporate. Hold until you have a real shot at pity on a unit you actually want.
- Weigh Eidolons honestly. As F2P, dupes are almost never worth passing on a new character. Our Eidolons guide shows the handful of exceptions.
- Consider the Express Supply Pass only if you spend at all. At 90 jade a day it is the best value in the shop, but this is a pure F2P plan, so the point stands on its own.
The takeaway is not a magic trick, it is bookkeeping. Clear your endgame, grab your codes, let no event lapse, and spend on one target a patch. Do that and a free account keeps pace with the characters it cares about without ever opening its wallet. New to all this?
