The Thompson is the bridge weapon that carries players from early-game scrap guns to full AK kits. It uses cheap pistol ammo, has minimal recoil, and shreds at close range. For its Tier 2 workbench cost it is arguably the best value gun in Rust.
The Mid-Game King
Many players win wipes on the Thompson alone, using it to raid and roam before they ever reach Tier 3. It punches above its tier and is a staple recommendation in any getting-started guide.
