The Short Answer
Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.5 is the summer patch, and it is built around two alternate forms rather than two brand new characters. Phase 1 features Robin Summeretto, a summer take on Penacony's diva who moves off her original Harmony role into a 5-star Wind Remembrance unit, and Phase 2 features Aventurine Waveflair, a 5-star Quantum Elation version of the Astralite gambler. Both are limited, both are the kind of "you either love the character or you do not" pull, and both land almost immediately after Version 4.4 emptied a lot of wallets with the Fate/stay night collaboration. Exact release timing is still moving, so treat the dates below as the current best estimate, not a promise from HoYoverse.
This is a HostedGG news breakdown. We stick to what has actually been revealed, flag what is still leak-tier, and tell you what it means for your Jade budget.
What Is Confirmed So Far
Here is the state of play as of early July 2026. Version 4.4 launches first, on July 15, and it carries the main-story unit Himeko Nova plus the Fate collaboration characters. Version 4.5 is the follow-up patch, and its two banners have both been revealed through official drip marketing.
| Detail | Robin Summeretto | Aventurine Waveflair |
| Rarity | 5-star | 5-star |
| Element | Wind | Quantum |
| Path | Remembrance | Elation |
| Banner phase | Phase 1 | Phase 2 |
| Base character | Robin (Penacony) | Aventurine (Penacony) |
| Status | Revealed, kit not final | Revealed, kit not final |
The headline is the Path swap. The original Robin is one of the most valuable Harmony supports in the game. Robin Summeretto stepping into Remembrance signals a memosprite or summon-based support identity instead of the classic action-advance buffer, which means she is likely to sit alongside the original Robin rather than replace her. Aventurine moving from Preservation shielding into Elation points at a follow-up damage carry, a very different job from the sustain role players already know him for.
The Likely Schedule
HoYoverse has not stamped a hard calendar on 4.5 yet, and different trackers disagree by a couple of weeks. Working from the studio's standard six-week patch cadence and the 4.4 launch on July 15, the realistic window looks like this.
- Version 4.5 update: late August 2026, roughly the week of August 25.
- Phase 1, Robin Summeretto: opens with the patch and runs for about three weeks.
- Phase 2, Aventurine Waveflair: opens mid-September and runs to early October.
We will lock these to exact dates the moment the official preview livestream airs. Until then, plan around "late August into early October," not a specific day.
Why This Patch Is a Wallet Trap
Summer is always the most dangerous stretch of the year for a gacha budget, and 4.5 is a textbook example of why. You are being asked to pull on two limited alternate forms of characters you may already own, immediately after a collaboration patch that dangled a free limited 5-star and two Fate units in front of you. That is not an accident. It is the summer squeeze, and we wrote a whole survival guide to it in Why Summer Is the Most Expensive Season in Gacha.
The trap works because alts bypass your usual filters. You already have a relationship with Robin and Aventurine, so a swimsuit variant feels less like a gamble and more like "getting more of a character I like." Mechanically, though, an alt on a new Path is a genuinely new unit with new team requirements, new relics to farm, and its own place in the meta. Evaluate it as one.
Should You Save?
Here is our honest read, and it depends entirely on where your account is coming out of 4.4.
If you spent big on the Fate collab, skip the reflex to keep going. Robin Summeretto and Aventurine Waveflair are both flavor-forward alts, not account-defining power spikes on the level of a new limited archetype. Rebuild your Stellar Jade reserve, clear the free content, and only commit if the character is a personal favorite.
If you skipped 4.4 entirely, you are in a strong position. A skip-patch discipline is exactly how you afford the units you actually care about. Decide which of the two summer alts, if either, is a want rather than a maybe, and pull only for that one.
If you are a Robin main, watch the kit reveal closely. A second Robin on the Remembrance Path could open a "double Robin" comp that meaningfully changes your best team, in which case the value proposition shifts from cosmetic to competitive. That is the one scenario where saving hard makes sense.
For a framework on how to make these calls without the copium, our 50/50 explainer and the gacha cost ranking are the two pieces to read before you tap the banner.
How to Prep Right Now
You have several weeks. Use them.
- Bank your Jades. Finish every unclaimed event, Simulated Universe reward, and Nameless Honor track. Do not spend Warps on standard banners.
- Grab active codes. New patches always ship a batch of free Stellar Jade codes. We keep a running list on the HSR codes page, refreshed as they drop.
- Pre-farm relics. If Robin Summeretto is a support, a fresh Speed and Energy Regen relic set will matter. If Aventurine Waveflair is a carry, start banking crit pieces now. Our relics and Light Cones guide covers the sets to target.
- Check the meta first. Before you commit, see where these two land against the rest of the roster on our best characters guide and the HSR tier list.
The Bigger Picture
Version 4.5 is a flavor patch, not a power patch, and that is worth saying plainly. The heavy meta movement this summer came in 4.4 with Himeko Nova and the Fate units, where a genuinely new Erudition carry and a free collab character reshaped team building. If you want a build that pays off in the endgame, that is where to spend, and our Himeko Nova build guide breaks down exactly how to make her hit.
The summer alts are the dessert course. They are gorgeous, they are limited, and they will be gone. Just make sure you are pulling because you love the character, not because the calendar and the marketing team decided you should.
FAQ
When does HSR 4.5 release? The current estimate is late August 2026, roughly six weeks after the July 15 launch of 4.4. HoYoverse has not confirmed an exact date, so consider this a NEEDS_REVIEW window until the official preview livestream.
Is Robin Summeretto the same as regular Robin? No. She is a limited alternate form on the Wind Remembrance Path, a different role from the original Harmony Robin. She is expected to complement, not replace, the original.
Are these units worth pulling? They are flavor-forward alts rather than must-have power units. Pull if the character is a favorite or if the kit reveal shows a comp-defining synergy. Otherwise it is a safe patch to save through.
Where do I find free Jade codes? Our HSR codes page tracks the live codes for every patch, updated as new ones are released.
