Tool
WoW Forever class picker
There are 52 playable race and class combinations in Forever, 12 of them new, and the level cap is 60 permanently. That makes this the rare MMO where what you roll is the character you keep rather than the one you replace at the next expansion.
Answer five questions and this narrows the list, then tells you which racial is doing the work in each case and whether Blizzard has published the class at all. It will not hand you a tier list, because one cannot honestly exist yet.
46 combinations fit
3 of them tie, which is usually the honest answer.
Best fit on your answers3 tied, in no particular order
Gnome Priest
New in ForeverKit publishedThe default healer, with a shadow side that solos well.
2 roles. Priest can fill Healer and Ranged damage at 60.
You have not told us a role, so a class that can change its mind without a reroll scores higher here.
New in Forever. Gnome Priest was not a combination in Classic.
Nobody has a twenty-year head start on how it plays, which is worth something on a fresh server.
Undead Paladin
New in ForeverKit publishedThe most reworked class in the game, and the first whose kit Blizzard published in full.
3 roles. Paladin can fill Tank, Healer and Melee damage at 60.
You have not told us a role, so a class that can change its mind without a reroll scores higher here.

Dwarf Shaman
New in ForeverKit unpublishedTotems and elemental damage, and no longer Horde-only.

What this cannot tell you
- Which class does the most damage. Nobody has played Forever past level 30, the beta closes October 21, and the raids that would settle it open after launch. Any site ranking Forever damage today built the list out of Classic numbers and hope.
- What four of the nine classes actually do. Blizzard has published a full kit for 5: Paladin at the reveal, then Hunter, Druid, Priest and Warrior on September 30. Mage, Rogue, Shaman and Warlock have no published rework, and the deep dive post says more are coming, so those four may be answerable before launch.
- Which racial wins. Blizzard says it tuned racials to comparable offensive value and gave every race the same two-active, two-passive shape. The scores here weigh an active racial above a passive one, because you choose when to press it, and that is a design judgement rather than a measurement.
- Anything about the four retail classes. Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Evoker, Monk are not in this game, so they are not in this tool.
Every role, and who can fill it
The same data the picker runs on, laid out flat. Druid appears four times because it is the only class that can take every role, which is also the reason it scores well when you have not decided.

Frequently asked, before you spend two hundred hours on this
- What class should I play in WoW Forever?
- There is no single answer and the honest version of this tool refuses to pretend otherwise. What it can do is narrow 52 playable race and class combinations down to the handful that match your faction, the role you want at 60, and what you will actually be doing, then show you which racial is doing the work in each case. Blizzard says it tuned racials to comparable offensive value, so expect the top few to be close.
- Is there a best race for each class in WoW Forever?
- Not in the way Classic had one. Forever gave every race exactly two active and two passive racials and rebuilt them so no race carries a dead slot, which removes the Classic situation where a Gnome Warrior had a racial that raised Intellect. Weapon skill racials became critical strike chance that counts for spells as well, so the old "Humans use swords, Orcs use axes" logic no longer locks a race to a weapon type. Pick for the racial you will press, not for a parse nobody has produced yet.
- Which classes can tank in WoW Forever?
- Warrior, Paladin and Druid. Paladin is the one that changed: Consecration is baseline at level 20 and Seal of Fury makes Judgment taunt, so Paladin tanking no longer needs a talent investment to hold a pull or borrow someone else's single-target taunt.
- How many WoW Forever race and class combinations are new?
- 12 of 52. Six are new combinations on existing races, including Undead Paladin, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock and Gnome Priest. The other six belong to the Skyborne, who are new in Forever and come with an upgrade pack rather than a subscription.
- Can this tool tell me the strongest class for raiding?
- No, and nothing can yet. The beta runs to October 21 at a level 30 cap, the game launches November 4, and the raids that would settle any damage ranking open later still. Blizzard has published a full kit for 5 of the nine classes; for the other four, a tier list is somebody's guess with a number next to it. This tool marks which is which instead.
Once you have picked
Read the per-class changes from Classic and every racial ability in full, check the combination against the race and class matrix, and then note the one genuinely time-critical date: early name reservation runs October 27 to November 3 for anyone who bought an upgrade pack, and names are first come, first served. The editions page covers whether a pack is worth it for anything else.
