The Ultimate Palworld Server Guide
Palworld has taken the world by storm, blending survival mechanics with creature collection in a way we haven't seen before. While the game is fun solo or in small co-op groups, the true experience shines on a dedicated server.
Hosting a dedicated server allows for a persistent world, up to 32 players, and complete control over gameplay settings.
Why a Dedicated Server?
1. Persistent World
On a dedicated server, the world keeps running even when the host is offline. Your friends can hop on and farm resources, build bases, or catch Pals whenever they want.
2. Player Cap
Standard co-op is limited to 4 players. Dedicated servers support up to 32 players in a single guild-filled world.
3. Performance
Palworld is surprisingly resource-intensive. Hosting on your own PC while playing can lead to significant lag for everyone. Offloading the server to a high-performance host like HostedGG ensures smooth gameplay.
System Requirements
Palworld servers are memory-hungry. Here is what we recommend:
| Player Count | Minimum RAM | CPU |
| 1-4 Players | 8 GB | 2+ Cores |
| 4-12 Players | 12-16 GB | 3-4 Cores |
| 12-32 Players | 16-32 GB | 4+ High-Speed Cores |
Important: Palworld currently has a known "memory leak" issue where RAM usage climbs over time. Regular restarts are highly recommended (e.g., every 4-6 hours) to keep performance snappy. HostedGG servers include automated schedule managers to handle this for you.
Configuration Guide
One of the best parts of a dedicated server is customizing the difficulty. You can tweak almost everything in PalWorldSettings.ini.
Popular Settings to Change
- EXP Rate:
ExpRate=1.0( Increase to 1.5 or 2.0 for faster leveling) - Capture Rate:
PalCaptureRate=1.0(Increase to make catching easier) - Death Penalty:
DeathPenalty=All(Change toNoneorItemif you don't want to lose pals/gear on death) - Guild Player Max:
GuildPlayerMaxNum=20
How to Join Your Server
Joining a dedicated server is simple, but requires a slightly different method than standard co-op.
- Launch Palworld.
- Click Join Multiplayer Game.
- At the bottom of the screen, there is a dedicated IP address bar.
- Enter your connection string:
IP_ADDRESS:8211(Default port is 8211). - Click Connect.
Optimizing Performance
If you experience lag or rubber-banding:
- Lower Drop Item Max: Too many items on the ground consume resources.
- Restart Frequently: As mentioned, the memory leak is real.
- Use NVMe Storage: World saving and creature loading benefit massively from fast storage.
