Introduction

Setting up a dedicated server for Hytale is the best way to enjoy Orbis with your friends without the limitations of peer-to-peer hosting. This guide will walk you through the entire process on HostedGG.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  1. A valid copy of Hytale (Early Access).
  2. A HostedGG Account.
  3. A purchased Hytale Server Plan (Starts at €9.99/mo).

Step 1: Instant Installation

HostedGG uses an automated installer to get you up and running in seconds.

  1. Log in to your HostedGG Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to My Servers.
  3. Click on your new Hytale instance.
  4. The server status will show Installing. Wait for about 30-60 seconds.
  5. Once the status changes to Running, your server is ready!

[!NOTE] The first startup may take an extra minute as the server generates the initial world files and configuration configs.

Step 2: Connection Details

To join your server, you need your unique IP Address and Port.

  1. On your dashboard, find the Connection Info box.
  2. You will see an address formatted like: 192.168.1.1:5520.
  3. Click the Copy icon next to the address.

Step 3: Joining the Server

Now, let's get you in-game.

  1. Launch the Hytale Client.
  2. Click on Multiplayer from the main menu.
  3. Select Add Server.
  4. Enter a name for your server (e.g., "My Awesome World").
  5. Paste your connection address into the Server Address field.
  6. Click Done and then double-click your server to join.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

If you cannot connect:

  • Check Status: Ensure the server is marked as Running in the dashboard.
  • Verify EULA: Hytale requires you to accept the EULA. Check the "Console" tab; if it asks for EULA acceptance, type true and hit enter (or check your server.properties file).
  • Firewall: Ensure you aren't blocking outbound connections on port 5520.
