The Wave to You summer event brought two limited SSRs to Goddess of Victory: Nikke. The headliner, Cinderella: Crystal Wave, grabbed the spotlight. The second, running July 9 to July 30, is the one worth a careful look precisely because she does not fit the usual "pull everything summer" reflex.
Marciana: Marine Study is an SSR Elysion Attacker who fires an Assault Rifle and lives in one specific role: single-target damage. Her kit rewards a shrinking battlefield. Her damage climbs as the number of enemies on screen drops, which makes her sharpest exactly where a lot of general-purpose DPS units go soft: boss fights and thinned-out waves.
Read Her Kit Before You Read the Splash Art
Summer units sell on their costumes. Marciana should sell on a question: do you need a dedicated single-target dealer for Iron-code content?
Her scaling is the whole story. When the wave is full of mobs, she is unremarkable. When it is down to a boss or a straggler or two, her per-target output ramps up. That is a deliberately narrow design. She is not a screen-clearing carry and she is not trying to be. She wants to be pointed at the biggest health bar in the room while the rest of your team handles everything else.
The honest read from the wider community is that she has cooled off for general PvE since her debut window, but she keeps real value in her lane, especially when you need advantage damage against Electric-code enemies where Iron has the edge.
How to Gear Her If You Pull
If Marciana lands in your roster, build her for her job and nothing else.
| Slot | Priority |
| Overload lines | ATK%, Elemental Damage, Max Ammo Capacity |
| Filler line | Crit as needed |
| Harmony Cube | Bastion is the safe general pick; Resilience works too |
A note on the Elemental Damage line: it is especially worth chasing if you plan to aim her at Electric-code bosses, where the Iron advantage stacks with her single-target ramp. Max Ammo helps her uptime in longer fights, where reload timing decides how much of her Burst window she actually spends shooting.
The Team That Makes Her Work
Marciana wants runway. She pairs naturally with Burst I and Burst II units that delete trash mobs fast, which lets her Skill 1 scaling ramp before her Burst III comes online and the wave is already thin. If you run an Academia squad, leaning into that squad synergy pays off in Tribe Tower and Interception content where her single-target profile is most useful. Our burst team-building guide covers the rotation fundamentals if you are still learning how the three burst stages chain.
Should You Actually Pull?
Here is the part the banner art will not tell you.
- Pull if: you lack a strong dedicated single-target dealer, you grind Interception and Tribe Tower seriously, or you want a specialist for Iron-favored bosses.
- Skip if: you are short on gems, you already have your single-target slot covered, or you are saving for a future unit with broader use. A niche boss-killer is a luxury, not a foundation.
If you are still filling out a roster, the broader priorities in our best characters guide will stretch your gems further than a situational summer SSR. And whatever you decide, sweep the current Nikke codes and check where Marciana lands on our tier list before you spend. For everything else in the update, see our Wave to You summer breakdown.
