NIKKE Campaign Progression Guide: Breaking the Combat Power Wall

Every NIKKE: Goddess of Victory player hits the same brick wall in the campaign, where a stage sits a few thousand Combat Power above you and refuses to budge. This guide explains what CP actually is, why the Synchro Device caps your whole account, and the exact order to raise power so the campaign starts moving again.

You beat a chapter, roll into the next stage, and the game stops dead. The recommended Combat Power sits a few thousand above yours, your bullets suddenly feel like they are made of foam, and no amount of retrying changes it. Welcome to the CP wall, the single most common place NIKKE: Goddess of Victory grinds new players to a halt.

The good news is that the wall is almost never random. Combat Power is a formula, the Synchro Device is a ceiling, and once you understand both, breaking through becomes a checklist instead of a mystery. Let us take the wall apart.

First, diagnose the wall

Before spending a single resource, work out which of two walls you have hit, because they need opposite fixes.

The CP wall is a raw stat gap. In Campaign, Tribe Tower, Lost Sector, and event stages, dropping below the recommended Combat Power triggers a stat penalty: your damage, accuracy, and defense are all quietly reduced, and the penalty deepens the further under you are. If you are below the number, you are being nerfed on entry. This wall is fixed by raising CP, full stop.

The mechanic wall is different. Your CP is fine, but a boss shreds you because you cannot burst on time, you brought the wrong element, or you are ignoring a gimmick. Throwing more CP at this one does nothing. If your squad is at or above the recommended power and still losing, stop leveling and start looking at your rotation and your target priority.

Most players assume every loss is the CP wall and pour resources into the wrong problem. Check the recommended CP against yours first. If you are under it, read on. If you are over it, skip to the rotation section.

What Combat Power actually is

CP is not one number you raise directly. It is the sum of five things, and knowing the breakdown tells you where the cheap gains are:

  • Synchro (character level). The biggest single contributor, shared across your whole squad through the Synchro Device.
  • Gear. Four equipment slots per Nikke, upgraded with materials, with a large jump once you reach the top tiers and unlock Overload.
  • Skills. Three skills per Nikke, leveled with skill materials. Cheap early CP and real combat value on your carries.
  • Cubes. Harmony Cubes that add stats and utility like reload and ammo.
  • Grade and cores. Limit breaks and core enhancements from dupes and mold, which raise the character's own ceiling.

The mistake is spreading these evenly across a big roster. CP that wins stages is concentrated CP: a handful of units built high, not twenty units built halfway.

The Synchro Device is the real ceiling

Here is the mechanic that confuses everyone. The Synchro Device in your Outpost sets a shared Sync Level and pulls every connected Nikke up to it, so you do not have to level characters one by one. It is the reason your bench is as strong as your starters.

But the Sync Level has a cap, and the cap is set by your top five highest-leveled Nikkes. The device can only sync everyone up to the level of your fifth-strongest unit. That is the lever. To raise the ceiling for your entire account, you individually level your five strongest Nikkes with Credits and Battle Data. Every level you push those five higher lifts the Sync Level, which lifts all forty of your characters at once.

So the highest-value spend in the game is leveling your top five, not your sixth or your tenth. Beyond certain milestones those levels also demand Core Dust from dupes and mold, which is why pulling or wishlisting copies of units you actually use pays off long after you have the character.

The order to raise CP

When the diagnosis is a genuine CP wall, spend in this sequence for the fastest breakthrough:

  1. Level your top five to raise the Sync ceiling. This is the single biggest gain and it buffs your whole squad simultaneously. Do this first, every time.
  2. Push gear on your main damage dealers. Bring your carries' equipment up to the top tiers, then start unlocking Overload lines for the sub-stats that matter, like Max Ammo, Attack, and Crit. Gear is a huge chunk of CP and it lands where your damage comes from.
  3. Level skills on your DPS and burst enablers. Skill levels are cheap CP and, more importantly, real power on the units doing the work.
  4. Slot the right cubes. Match Harmony Cubes to your carries' needs, then level them.
  5. Limit break and core your best units. Feed dupes and mold into the characters you actually field to raise their personal ceiling and unlock the higher Sync bands.

Notice the theme: everything points at a small core of units. Build five deep, not twenty wide.

Feeding the machine

All of that costs materials, and NIKKE hands them out through modes you should be clearing daily even when you are not stuck:

  • Outpost Defense idles Credits, Battle Data, and gear while you are offline. Bump it and collect it religiously.
  • Tribe Tower is a per-manufacturer climb gated by CP that pays out skill materials, Core Dust, and other upgrade mats. Push each tower as far as your power allows.
  • Simulation Room is your main source of Harmony Cubes and cube upgrade materials.
  • Lost Sector and daily missions top up the rest.

If a Tribe Tower floor or a Lost Sector is itself CP-walled, that is fine: come back after the next Sync Level bump and it will open up. Progress in NIKKE is a loop, not a straight line.

When CP is not the answer

If you are over the recommended CP and still dying, the problem is almost always your Burst rotation. NIKKE's damage windows depend on chaining Burst I into Burst II into Burst III to trigger Full Burst every cycle. A team that cannot complete that chain, because it is missing a stage or the cooldowns do not line up, will underperform no matter how much CP it stacks. Fix the burst team composition before you fix anything else.

Two more mechanic checks: match the boss's element, since hitting an enemy with its weak element adds a damage bonus, and aim for cores, the glowing weak points that take bonus damage and cut a boss fight in half. A correctly built, correctly played team clears content well above its CP; a mismatched one stalls below it.

The short of it

The campaign wall is a Combat Power gap that penalizes you for entering under-leveled, and CP is dominated by your Synchro ceiling, which is set by your five strongest Nikkes. Level those five first, gear and skill your carries second, and keep your daily modes feeding the pile. When the numbers are fine but you still lose, it is the burst rotation or the boss gimmick, not the CP. Get both halves right and NIKKE stops being a wall and starts being a run.
