FAQ answers

Once Human is a free-to-play open-world survival game set in Nalcott, a world warped by a strange substance called Stardust. You play a Meta-Human: you scavenge and build to survive, fight twisted monsters with guns, capture anomalous creatures called Deviations, and push back the contamination across a huge shared map. This wiki covers the bosses, Deviations, scenarios, and systems you need.

How Once Human Plays

The loop is survive, build, hunt, specialize. You gather and craft to stay alive, raise and defend a base, and fight through a third-person shooter combat system rather than melee. What sets it apart is Deviations, the captured creatures that fight for you and automate your base, and Memetics, a deep blueprint tree where you unlock and specialize your weapons, gear, and builds.

Deviations

Deviations are the heart of the game. They come in three roles: Combat Deviations that fight and buff you, Territory Deviations that work or guard your base, and Crafting Deviations that produce consumables. A strong run means catching the right Deviations for your build and your base, and many players grab the same dependable picks at the start of every season.

Bosses and Monoliths

The contaminated world is full of Deviated monsters, and the biggest are the Great Ones, world bosses sealed inside Monoliths. Fights like the Treant, the Ravenous Hunter, and Arachsiam are gear and mechanics checks that drop the materials and blueprints you need to climb. Our boss pages break down where to find each Great One and how to beat it.

Scenarios and Seasons

Once Human runs on scenarios: time-limited worlds with their own rules, from the PvE intro of Manibus to the temperature survival of Way of Winter and the PvP of Evolution's Call and Prismverse's Clash. When a scenario ends the world resets, but your account unlocks and your permanent home, Eternaland, carry forward. That seasonal rhythm keeps the meta fresh and is why builds and Deviation picks shift over time.

Using This Wiki

Use the quick-access bar to jump to bosses, Deviations, or scenarios, and the left menu to browse the whole game. Every entry has an infobox so you can check a boss location, a Deviation role, or a scenario's rules at a glance.

Once Human FAQ

Is Once Human free to play?

Yes. Once Human is a free-to-play open-world survival game. It monetizes through cosmetics and a battle pass, not pay-to-win power, so you can play the full survival and combat loop without spending.

What are Deviations in Once Human?

Deviations are anomalous creatures you capture and keep. Combat Deviations fight alongside you and buff your damage, Territory Deviations automate base jobs like gathering ore and wood or defending against waves, and Crafting Deviations produce useful consumables. Building a good roster across all three is core to progression.

What are scenarios and seasons in Once Human?

Scenarios are time-limited server worlds with their own rules and map, like Manibus (PvE intro), Way of Winter (PvE with temperature survival), Evolution's Call and Prismverse's Clash (PvP). When a scenario ends the world resets, but your account-level unlocks and your permanent home, Eternaland, carry over, so you keep your progress between seasons.

Is Once Human PvP or PvE?

Both, depending on the scenario you join. Manibus and Way of Winter are PvE, while Evolution's Call and Prismverse's Clash are PvP. You pick the experience you want when you choose a server.

Do you lose your progress each season in Once Human?

Your in-scenario base and level reset when a scenario ends, but blueprints (Memetics), formulas, and account rewards persist, and you can store gear and resources in Eternaland to bring into the next scenario. So you restart the world, not your account.

Is Once Human on console and mobile?

Yes. Once Human is available on PC, mobile, and console, with cross-progression, so you can keep one character across platforms.

What is a good beginner build in Once Human?

Shrapnel is the classic beginner-friendly build: it adds explosive shrapnel to your hits and scales well without rare gear. It is forgiving while you learn the Deviation, gear calibration, and Memetics systems.
