Once Human runs on three big choices: which Deviations you raise, which bosses gate your progress, and which scenario you settle into. These boards rank Deviations and bosses for general PvE, plus which scenario suits which player, with every pick linked to its wiki page. Each Deviation below is labelled Combat, Territory, or Crafting, because the three do completely different jobs and a board that mixes them without saying so is how players end up with three fighters and an idle base.

Once Human Deviation Tier List

Ranked on how much a Deviation does for you in combat, crafting, or your territory relative to how easily you get it.

Butterfly's Emissary
Combat. Marks enemy weak spots on hit, and the marked spot takes 25% to 35% extra Weakspot DMG for 5s depending on its level. Handed to you early, and it raises the ceiling of every gun build.
Festering Gel
Combat. Drops a fortification that blocks attacks and restores 4.5% to 7.5% HP and 2.25% to 3.75% Sanity per second to anyone near it, by level. The survival pick most players grab first each season.

Lonewolf's Whisper
Combat. Marks targets and increases the weapon damage they take, which is why it is the default pick for Shrapnel builds.
The Digby Boy
Territory. Mines ore on its own from an Isolated Securement Unit, which deletes the single most tedious grind in the game.

Logging Beaver
Territory. Does for wood what the Digby Boy does for ore. Run both and your base stocks itself.
Nutcracker
Territory. Patrols your base as a mobile turret and attacks intruders during purification waves. The standard pick on PvP servers.
C
Space Turner
Crafting. Produces Spatial Keystones for Space Twisters, so teammates can teleport to you without spending Energy Links. Excellent in co-op, dead weight solo.
Pup Buddy
Crafting. Produces Small Balloons for Featherweight Potions, a couple of hours of extra carry weight. Quietly good on long loot runs.
