Automatic Backups

All HostedGG servers include automatic backups to protect your data. Never lose your world, configurations, or player progress again.

How Backups Work

  • Frequency: Backups run every 6 hours by default
  • Retention: 7 days of backup history
  • Storage: Backups don't count against your disk quota
  • Scope: Full server backup including worlds, configs, and plugins/mods

Managing Backups

Viewing Backups

  1. Navigate to your server dashboard
  2. Click the Backups tab
  3. View all available backups with timestamps

Creating Manual Backups

Before making major changes:

  1. Go to Backups tab
  2. Click Create Backup
  3. Wait for the backup to complete
  4. Proceed with your changes
Intel

Tip: Always create a manual backup before installing major mods or plugins.

Restoring a Backup

To restore your server to a previous state:

  1. Go to Backups tab
  2. Find the backup you want to restore
  3. Click Restore
  4. Confirm the restoration
  5. Wait for the process to complete
Intel

Warning: Restoring a backup will overwrite current server data. Create a backup of your current state first if needed.

Downloading Backups

Download backups to your computer for safekeeping:

  1. Go to Backups tab
  2. Click the Download button next to any backup
  3. Save the backup file to your computer

Advanced Backup Management

For more control over backups, access the full backup interface in the game panel:

  1. Click Open in Panel from the Backups tab
  2. Access advanced options:
    • Custom backup schedules
    • Selective file backups
    • Backup locking (prevent deletion)
    • Cross-server backup transfer

Best Practices

  1. Create manual backups before major changes
  2. Download important backups to your computer periodically
  3. Test restores occasionally to ensure backups work
  4. Label backups with descriptive names (if available)
