The Short Answer

Turbulent Timeways is World of Warcraft's rotating timewalking event, live through August 11, 2026. Queue for Timewalking dungeons through the Dungeon Finder, and you will be matched into one of six scaled-down Dragonflight dungeons. Each run pays out Timewarped Badges, and a weekly quest adds a bonus chunk on top. Spend badges on mounts and cosmetics at any Timewalking vendor, or chase the free Spawn of Vyranoth mount through the event's dedicated achievement. For what else launched alongside this event, see our Turbulent Timeways news breakdown.

How to Queue

  1. Open the Dungeon Finder (default keybind I) and select the Timewalking category.
  2. Queue solo or with a group; the tool matches you into one of the six active dungeons at random.
  3. Complete the dungeon to earn Timewarped Badges, gear scaled to the event's item level, and progress on the weekly quest.

There is no way to pick a specific dungeon from the pool directly through the finder, so if you are hunting a specific transmog or achievement drop, expect to run several before it comes up.

The Dungeon Pool

  • Algeth'ar Academy
  • Halls of Infusion
  • Neltharus
  • Ruby Life Pools
  • The Azure Vaults
  • Brackenhide Hollow

All six are Dragonflight-era dungeons, so the loot, achievements, and mounts on offer are themed around that expansion's zones and bosses.

Farming Timewarped Badges Efficiently

  • Prioritize your weekly quest first. It pays out a much larger badge chunk than a single dungeon clear, so pick it up before you start queuing.
  • Chain queue instead of leaving. Each individual dungeon awards roughly 15 to 25 badges, so back-to-back runs during a play session add up faster than spacing them out.
  • Bring alts. Badges are account-wide in spending power at the vendor even though they are earned per character, so running the weekly quest on multiple characters compounds your total badge income across a single week.
  • Watch for the participation buff. Stack it four times in a rotation and it converts into "Mastery of the Timeways," a 30% XP boost from kills and quests that persists through death, making this an efficient window to level low-level alts through the dungeon queue.

Spending Your Badges

RewardCost
Sandy Shalewing, Timely Buzzbee, Chrono Corsair (returning mounts)5,000 badges each
Liquid Hot Magma Slug (new this cycle)5,000 badges
Black-Furred Bakkar (new this cycle)5,000 badges
Scaled Timewalking gearVaries by slot

If you are saving for a specific mount, decide early and route every badge toward it rather than spreading currency thin across the vendor's full list.

Getting Spawn of Vyranoth

This event's marquee reward is not purchased with badges directly. It requires the "Master of the Turbulent Timeways V" achievement, earned by maintaining the "Mastery of the Timeways" buff across any four weeks during the six-week event. In practice, that means logging in and running enough Timewalking dungeons to trigger the buff each week, four separate times before the event ends on August 11. Once earned, Spawn of Vyranoth can be redeemed for one of four exclusive mount skins, so plan your weekly play sessions around hitting that buff rather than trying to cram everything into the final days.

Should You Bother If You Are Behind on Midnight Prep?

Yes. Turbulent Timeways is low-commitment relative to its rewards: a handful of dungeon queues per week gets you the badge income and the Mastery buff without competing for time against Midnight Season 2 dungeon testing or your regular endgame content. Treat it as a background activity you top up between other priorities rather than something that needs a dedicated farming session.
