The void is calling using. The second chapter of the Worldsoul Saga is finally stepping into the light (or rather, the shadow). Blizzard has officially confirmed the release date for World of Warcraft: Midnight, and it's bringing one of the most requested features in the game's history: Player Housing.

Release Date: March 2, 2026

Mark your calendars, champions of Azeroth. World of Warcraft: Midnight launches globally on March 2, 2026.

This expansion sees us returning to the old world—specifically a completely revamped Quel'Thalas—to fend off the Void's invasion of the Sunwell. The stakes have never been higher as Xal'atath continues her machinations to plunge Azeroth into eternal darkness.

Player Housing: Early Access in 2025

The biggest surprise wasn't just the housing announcement, but how soon we'll get it. Player Housing will enter Early Access on December 2, 2025, for players who pre-purchase the expansion.

This isn't just a garrison 2.0. Blizzard promises a fully customizable system where you can:

  • Claim a personal plot in various zones (starting with capital city themes).
  • Freely place furniture and decorations (no more fixed hooks!).
  • Showcase your transmog sets and achievement trophies.
  • Invite friends and guildmates to your home.

The system launches with the The Warning prologue patch (11.2.7), giving us months to build our dream homes before the full expansion drops.

Key Features in WoW Midnight

Besides housing, Midnight is packed with features that aim to modernize the WoW experience:

1. Return to Quel'Thalas

The Blood Elf homeland is getting a massive overhaul. Eversong Woods, Ghostlands, and Silvermoon City are being rebuilt from the ground up to match modern graphical standards. The zone is now a unified, seamless continent without loading screens, significantly larger than the original TBC version.

2. New "Devourer" Demon Hunter Spec

Demon Hunters are finally getting a third specialization. The Devourer spec focuses on void-magic manipulation, using the enemy's own chaotic energy against them. Additionally, Void Elves can finally become Demon Hunters, expanding the class to the Alliance in a lore-fitting way.

3. Account-Wide Transmog 2.0

The days of armor-type restrictions are (mostly) over. A new Slot-Based Transmog system allows you to collect appearances on any character. If your Mage loots a plate helm, your Warrior unlocks the appearance. Collecting sets has never been easier.

4. The "Prey" System

A new outdoor progression system called Prey will have players hunting down void-corrupted monstrosities across the new zones. Think of it as a dynamic, escalating world boss system that offers solo and group challenges for high-end cosmetic rewards.

Prepare for the Void

With The War Within setting the stage, Midnight looks to be the expansion that truly tests Azeroth's defenders. Whether you're excited to finally rebuild Silvermoon or just want to decorate your own house in Goldshire, 2026 is shaping up to be a massive year for Warcraft.

Pre-orders are available now, granting immediate access to the level 80 boost and the new "Void-Touched" mount collection.

Are you ready to face the shadows? Or are you just going to spend the next year decorating your house? (We know we are).
