Signal Decay is an offline-first idle and auto-battler RPG. iOS, Android, browser build coming. Available now at signaldecay.app.
You crash-land on a planet bleeding signal interference. Humanity was engineered by the Architects as a weapon, sent forward on a 50,000-year genetic timer. The signal is the corrupting force inside every system in the game: combat, crafting, lore. You mine, craft, fight, and rebuild while the network rots around you.
Offline-First, Not Server-Tethered
Combat, crafting, gathering, shops, gem use: all local. No roundtrip per swing. Cloud sync is a five-minute background flush against a Supabase JSONB blob with optimistic locking, not a dependency. Close the app, the simulation keeps running. Twelve-hour offline progression cap on return.
This is the Melvor Idle loop, ported to a phone that may or may not have signal at any given moment.
15 Lifeskills, 99 Levels Each
Five gathering skills: Mining, BioHarvest, Signal Tapping, Woodcutting, Fishing. Tool tier across four tool types modifies success chance and yield, RuneScape-style.
One passive: Signal Arrays. Multi-channel relay towers upgraded in parallel. The Farming-equivalent slot.
Eight crafting skills: Smelting, Forging, Synthesis, Signal Etching, Gem Resonance, Pyrecraft, Cooking, Fabrication.
One combat skill on the lifeskill side: Signal Runes.
Target time-to-99 in any skill is roughly 346 hours. Comparable grind depth to Melvor.
OSRS-Style Combat Skills
Seven independent combat skills, each leveled by routing XP through attack styles: Attack, Strength, Fortitude, Ranged, Signal, Speed, Protocol. Stance and spell switching mid-fight.
Three combat families:
- Melee. Sword, axe, blade.
- Ranged. Bow and crossbow with stackable ammo.
- Signal Magic. Staff plus rune-cost spells.
Foreground combat is a turn-by-turn loop. HP and combat XP commit per turn so the HUD updates live. Background combat is pure simulation against the same math.
Combat Protocols: Programmable Auto-Battler
Two distinct automation systems, intentionally separate:
- Combat Protocols. Programmable rule automation. OSRS combat options crossed with MMO macros. Switch ammo at HP thresholds, rotate spells by enemy type, eat at percentages, retreat on conditions.
- Protocol Buffs combat skill. A separate progression line that levels through combat use.
Players mix them. The Protocol skill is not the Protocols you write.
Tier-Locked Crafting
Ten resource tiers across six resource types. T1 through T8 feed equipment crafting. T9 and T10 are reserved for consumables, gems, and masterworks. Progression feels like RuneScape gear tiers with deeper recipe graphs behind each step.
Five gem types times eight tiers, minor through transcendent. Consume for temporary buffs, or forge them into permanent jewelry through Gem Resonance. Eighty craftable rings and amulets.
Loot Philosophy
Legendaries never drop from regular monsters or shops. Three sources only:
- Boss kills at a 5% rate.
- Nat-20 rolls on crates.
- Tower milestone rewards.
Fewer drops, each one worth screenshotting.
The World Around the Loop
- Wilderness exploration. Grid-based zones. Monster spawns and gathering nodes scale to skill level. Bosses summoned with fragments.
- Boss fights. Multi-phase, fragment-gated, exclusive legendary drops with passive procs.
- Codex. In-game lore: factions, bestiary, technology, chronicles.
- Survival Guide. Mechanics wiki, 51 entries across 6 categories shipped.
- Crash Landing tutorial. Narrative onboarding that earns you into the world before the systems open up.
What's Next
- Equipment set bonuses. Two-piece faction synergies that unlock bonus stats.
- Boss-exclusive proc weapons. Always-on passives, DoT-on-hit, +% versus monster type.
- Protocol Mastery Pool. Per-skill XP pool spent on permanent passives. The Melvor Mastery analog.
- Browser build and the "Play in browser" launch.
Who This Is For
Idle and incremental players coming off Melvor Idle, NGU Idle, or Trimps. RuneScape veterans who miss skill stacks and tier progression. Readers who want their idle game to have a setting darker than a fantasy tavern.
